Well how would Microsoft send the kinect to them in the first place if they don't know where they live?

Wow! That'd be crazy if that's true.

I think MS will discount the sensor for beta participants but keeping it is a stretch.

I guess we'll see.

Freakin fun as hell in all honesty! Before I got this,I was opting more towards Move, but Kinect just has way more potential.Although I have to say,I do love both Kinect & Move as motion tech comes, but I honestly enjoy Kinect more.

This is a great thing for all those that partook in the test. Maybe they'll be able to help spread the word about the device in a more positive light.

@Robborboy :: It is an excellent piece of hardware and is quite fun. Later in 2011 when bigger games targeted at the "gamer" stereotype come out, then this thing will be like owning crates of diamonds.

@delicatessen lama I agree wholeheartedly. Just hoping it does do well enough to encourage developers to make games for it. And I really hope they open up the api to arcade and indie developers.

Well, Microsoft saves on not having to pay for return shipping, and also has a bunch of people that are more likely to buy the Kinect games. So probably a good financial move for them.

So I'm curious, if this is true, just how many beta test Kinects do you think they'll be appending to their sales report do you think from this, just out of interest? I mean, if they were to do this, you must envision it's a pretty large number right?

It's sold out at quite a bit of locations.Look at amazon.com for one, theres other sellers on the site trying to sell it for almost $100 more than retail, but amazon has zip unless you preorder the 360 bundle.Bestbuy you can no longer preorder,it just has "Coming soon".Tons of gamestops are sold out on their preorders...It just goes on & on lol

Kinda pissed... This is the first MS beta I've not participated in (wasn't picked) and it's the only time the participant gets to keep what's being tested!

Xbox Live: Nope. Had to chalk up $70 like everyone else.
Office 2003 - 2010: Nope. Had to buy the student version.
Windows XP, Vista, & 7: Nope. Got an extended trial. Did get the house party version though.

I'm not really actually pissed. But it would have been nice if they picked LOYAL beta testers and not some 14 year old who will just sell it on eBay.

Actually it was those that participated in previous Betas for Xbox live as far as I can tell. Also when Xbox Live! was being Beta Tested people got several games, the headset & a shirt once they were done,so this is the second time that they've gave the participants a chance to keep the hardware.

I am a Kinect beta tester and it has been hard as h-e-double hockey stick not to tell all about it.
Pretty sure this is not breaking any rules by saying this, but I can tell you that testers are given the option to keep it. There is a form that needs to be filled out letting Microsoft know if you want to keep the unit or not. We will get a code for the game and have to download the instruction manual.
Funny seeing posts on what people say and how wrong they are when I have the inside view.

also in the NDA it states "All pre-release content & demos are subject to the terms so you are not authorized to capture pre-release images and post that content even after we launch."its meaning the stuff we have seen noone else has.I doubt saying we are the testers & got Kinect for free is against the NDA,now posting the survey above, yes thats breaking NDA.

@tweaked4r3ak If I manufacture 1,000,000 units and only provide 1,000 to each manufacturer and they all sell out of the pre-orders does that mean there is high demand ?

No it just means that I am making people believe there is high demand, In the hopes of causing people to panic buy.

Keep what, the beta dashboard? You will get the update to the final build but you will definitely not be getting a kinect.
