The studio formerly known as Free Radical Design may now be called Crytek UK, but that doesn't mean it has abandoned its popular TimeSplitters franchise. Managing director Karl Hilton said the developer is still shopping around that IP to publishers to see if it's something they're interested in. We've known that Crytek UK has been working on both another TimeSplitters and some sort of original FPS IP for a while now, but Hilton says the coin flip hasn't landed yet. "If [publishers are] keen for a TS game," he says, "then we'd be happy to do one. If they'd like us to develop something new then we'd do that."
Hilton also says that even if it is agreed that Crytek UK will create a new TimeSplitters game, it may not look like the old ones. Publishers are excited about the brand, he says, but they may need it to be updated or tweaked in some way. But Hilton guarantees players that no matter what personality a new TimeSplitters game might eventually bear, it will definitely be a strong one. Doesn't matter to us, either, Mr. Hilton -- just please make sure that we get to play as a monkey at some point.

Seriously?
As in, he would prefer a new TS rather than a new IP.. Why add anything more, there should be no reasoning, no argument. The answer to what publishers want should be obvious.
A Time Splitters game is a well known franchise, guaranteed sales, high probability of profit.

Someone needs to pick this up right now.
Future Perfect and timesplitters 2 were some of the best FPS last gen, hell of all time if you ask me.

I just got the perfect idea replaces waves of Zombies with Monkeys with each wave getting better weapons 8 player co-op with about 50 or so monkeys on screen...
Well 8 player co-op and 50 monkeys is overkill but, you get the point...

Its about time too, because of the stupid mistake in the form of Haze, I've been deprived of Timesplitters fun -_- Not happy!

Agreed, TS2 is the most entertaining and addictive FPS I have ever played. Please come back :(

Seriously? Its your ONE established franchise. Considering that Haze was a total flop and barely anyone remembers and fewer still care about Second Sight, why are you even still thinking about whether or not making another Timesplitters game would be a good idea?
TS 2 was good fun, and TS: FP replaced Halo 2 as me and my buddies LAN game for like 1/2 a year.
Keep the humor, update the graphics, and release another TS game before your investors...

...think its time to split.

It's always been frustrating that Timesplitters has had to switch publishers so many times.
As though it's an iffy sort of franchise.
It was the best FPS series of the PS2/Gamecube/X-Box generation! For the love of Duckman Drake, someone pick this up!

Still "shopping around this IP to see if people are still interested in it"? What crazy publisher ISN'T interested in another TimeSplitters game?!? Hey, if we can get a new Klonoa, Boy and His Blob, Splatterhouse, and Front Mission, we should be able to get another TimeSplitters darn it!

I love TimeSplitters; but if they are really going to update the franchise and make a new installment, they need to keep the humor in tact. Also, split screen multiplayer.

Yes, yes, yes! Oh man I remember making so many levels in FP. Crazy zombie levels, monkey spaceship levels, elaborate switch based inter-dimensional police squad operated by a single bald janitor level, I had fun!
Playing other peoples maps were a blast too. I remember one guy making two robots facing each other entirely out of rooms. Turrets on the shoulders and hands, jeeps driving around the feet. good times.

Oh man, there is so much love for Timesplitters! This is possibly the most postitive response I've ever seen on Joystiq for any franchise. And I agree. It made me feel like a kid again. It's the only FPS that I find fun (I don't count action FPS games like Bioshock in there, of course). I'm awful at Halo and Modern Warfare, but even if I'm awful at Timesplitters as well it's just too much fun to put down!

THIS HAS MADE ME SO HAPPY. TimeSlitters Future Perfect is quite possibly my favourite game or definitely up there. I hope they don't change up the formula too much. Just keep the wacky fun and I'll be happy. Also lots and lots of monkeys.

This story made my morning. I can't even begin to guess how many hours I lost on TS2 split screen. And damned if TS:FP wasn't a fantastic followup. I would be there launch day with cash in my grubby hands to give to the nu-Crytek folks if another TS was made. Just thinking about it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. Just keep the rock-solid controls and the amazing humour (and all the unlockables!!!!!). And the Chinese Chef.

I never found the story mode all that engaging, but the multiplayer in the TS games were always so much fun. Anyone remember the map editor in TS2 I think it was? I remember someone recreated the facilities or w/e map from goldeneye in it. Man that was fun stuff!

weird... i guess there are fans for everything?
don't get me wrong, I enjoyed TS2 back in the day. 4 player split screen AND bots was great (and sadly rare) couch sharing fun and had tons of completionist candy via all the medals… but was it a good game? I think I hated it as much as I enjoyed it for the awkward shooting controls, the lame ai, and the sometimes brilliant but often blasé level design. :/
