Wait what?
No weight difference?
Time for me to go sell all of my old Wiimotes, for these sexy new black ones.

The Wii Remote Plus also comes in White, Blue, and Pink. In Japan, the Red WRP can be purchased seperately from the Red Wii.

Considering the gyroscopes that are in the original Wii mote are like the size of a grain of rice, I don't think you are going to notice a difference in weight.

What annoys me is the "Wii Remote Plus INSIDE" curved on the bottom. That's a publicity blurb that should be on the box, not on the controller itself. Just mark it "Wii Remote Plus", leave out the idiotic "INSIDE" off the remote.

@Drakkenfyre I dunno if it's just me, but when I see that INSIDE stuff I always immediately am reminded of the old JC Penny slogan, "It's all inside."

It would be useful if Joystiq listed the MSRP somewhere on the page wouldn't it?

I think they're $5 cheaper or same price. Been a while since I bought a Wiimote. But I'll be buying two new one's to replace my non WM+ [addon] Wiimotes.

In Australia at least, they cost the same as the old models when they were new (ie $60-$70).
However, the standard Wii remotes have been heavily discounted and are now like $30.

In all regions, it goes for the same MSRP as the original Wii Remote. Effectively, the original Wii Remote and Wii MotionPlus accessory are already dead.

What kind of idiot keeps a Wii in a locker anyways? You might as well give it away at that point.

What if you put a motion plus dongle into the remote plus?

Will it then become psychic? or merely rip a hole in spacetime?

More importantly, what happens when you plug a Plus into a Plus into one of these?!?

@TenVolt

The Move, not likely. Unlike the PSMove the WiiMote in all its forms can track 3D movement, the Move can still only track sudo3D because to track 3D requires a minimum of 3 trackable points, the Move only has 2, the camera and the wand, while the Wii has 3 the WiiMote (which is the camera) and 2 IR lights, as long as the WiiMote is tracking both lights its tracking in 3D, even though programmers are too stupid to realize its potential for 3D tracking.

With Wii, YOU are the controller! Provided you have access to surgical supplies and don't mind one of your arms getting a bit heavier.

Most of the space in the motion add-on is taken up by the pass-though plug for the nunchuck, and some blank space to make it the same footprint as the remote itself. It doesn't surprise me at all that they can find space for the extra sensor given how much of a wiimote is hollow.
