It appears Gran Turismo 5 may finally be finished. After countless delays, series creator Kazunori Yamauchi told car enthusiast website Jalopnik that the discs were being "stamped as we speak," while making a disc-stamping motion with his hands (seen above).
While retailers have recently placed skepticism on a pre-Christmas GT5 release, today's news should provide some hope for fans. Those Blu-ray manufacturing plants should be able to press a few million copies in time for a holiday release -- unless Yamauchi insists on making these discs personally. By hand. Each and every one of them.

"Pressing: 14 days

Realizing that you accidentally shipped with an image of the Prophet Muhammed on one of the cars, initiating a global reacall, and rescheduling to release in Q1 2011: Priceless"
That's what it should have said. A missed opportunity…

hate to say it....but it feels like Sony didnt want GT5 sales to just DROP when Black Ops comes out....smh...Gran Turismo has always been a game that sales over time....I dont think they should have even worried about that....
My guess....Black Ops comes out next week....GT5 will come out either Black Friday...or the beginning of December.....

That's what I was thinking. Either release the same week/day for Black Friday or the first week of Dec. I just can't wait to play this damn game.
Long time in the making. And Sony/PD, GT5 better be good!
PS Where are the KB commercials?

Maybe the translator had got it wrong, and Yamauchi was just commenting how he loved the waffle maker that they had at one of the hotels he stayed at.
That would make sense, right?

i'm not a big fan of the genre, but i have always enjoyed the way a good racing game takes advantage of the hardware that its on. plus, tracking the many delays of this game is pretty interesting to me. i wonder if this yamauchi, being the supposed perfectionist that he is, would be able to even make a good game if he wasn't backed by sony who apparently gives him all the time in the world to make his games "right".

@Liquidfingers It's basically an RPG for car enthusiasts. It's the Final Fantasy of car games. Because GT5 encompasses so many normal cars from so many eras-- you're really getting a lot of history, when you play. It's fun to go back to the 60's and drive Japanese cars when Americans were building muscle; see what Italians and French were doing, and others. What they're doing now. It's neat to see the differences in design philosophy and ability, differences in performance and target audience. Oh, and realistic graphics, physics and sound, too; and a wonderful menu system and ambient space that's never overbearing and easily navigable. It's a boy's adventure tale.

that's why i love it so much. it's not just a racing game, it's the driving simulator. so detailed and large scaled. i've been playing it since PS1 and you can't describe it much better than a driving RPG. i honestly can't get into any other racing game.

News just in: The machines scratched all the CDs, so they have to be recalled as they are faulty, the machine needs to be replaced and as it is so rare and took 6 years to make, it will take another year to be fixed, unique machine ftw!
