Dead Space 2 'Ring Around the Rosie' trailer
50
It's a proven scientific fact: Nursery rhymes are creepy. As evidence of this undeniable truth, we present this trailer for Dead Space 2, which uses a twisted version of "Ring Around the Rosie" as its backing track. It's almost enough to make you forget how scary the actual game looks. Almost.

Personally I think it's only natural that a nursery rhyme about the Black Death in 19th century England be attached to a game like Dead Space 2. I'm surprised Resident Evil didn't beat them to it years ago.

To be fair, in-your-face rock solos seems more appropriate for the RE of nowadays.

It's still hard to believe for me that such a series like Resident Evil could completely forget its roots in just a single console after only a single console generation. No wonder Mikami left Capcom...

Quick! Make a prediction that the launch trailer for Homefront uses either Muse's United States of Eurasia or Map of the Problematique!
MAKE MY DAY.

I love when they do things like this. One of my favourite parts of Extraction was crawling through a tunnel while that creepy version of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" from the Dead Space 1 trailer played.

Have they confirmed campaign co-op yet? I understand if not, but the Game Informer cover story said it had plans for 2-player. It was ridiculously fun playing it with a friend nearby to scream like a girl with & it'd be 100 times cooler to drag 'em in with you. Kicking and screaming ;)

That's what I thought. It's probably a hallucination though. Of course, those that completed the first game know that she's still, ummm.... around (in a sense) at the end of the first game, so maybe that really is her.

I prefer the idea of clunky Isaac, but this game still looks pretty damn scary and atmospheric thankfully.
And anyone genuinely surprised that that trailer didn't end with a last second shock-scare, after the credits had run? Must have taken a lot of will power for the people cutting that to hold back.

I never thought making children's songs creepy was.. well, creepy. Kinda like clowns. Never creeped me out. The only thing about clowns that creeped me out was their existence in general... that some old man would want to dress up like that. The phsyches of those people is what creeps me out. Not clowns in horror movies, or clown makeup. Not ring around the rosie. It just seems like a stretch to me.
Not saying anything about the game though. The first one was great, and I'll be getting the second one!

Dang... This game looks awesome. I'm not a big fan of being scared though. But the only thing that really freaks me out is jump scares. Should I bother getting the original?

I'm really excited to see how this story closes what with Nicole and the survivors from Extraction. Possible cameos?

I dont think the characters from Extraction survived.
When you beat the game, you see their deaths through the eyes of a necromorph that was on the ship they escaped on.
At least I think that's what that clip was. I'm usually wrong about these things.

At the end of Extraction, through the eyes of a necromorph, you see it creeping up on Lexine, and just as it attacks she aims a gun at it, then it ends.

Reminds me of the creepy-as-hell music that played in the living quarters in DS1.

i think "twinkle twinkle little star" was a better match with the first one, although this one was sweet.
maybe i should play Extraction before DS2?

Considering "Ring around the Rosie" was originally written about the plague, it makes sense that it should be creepy

I was a little worried about the sequel being too action oriented, but that trailer made me feel better. I can't wait till this game comes out. Damn right I already have it pre-ordered!

What is the lady's voice saying right after she says, "This evil thing, it knows me."
It gets lost from the sound of the train drowning it out.
Then she says, "I come. For. Him."
Sounds like 'the Marker' might have a bone to pick with Isaac.
