I hope Abe comes to the UK PSN+

(I hate the fact that UK PSN+ only gets updated ONCE a month)

Pathetic Sony, pathetic.

@DigitalFortress

We are getting The next Abe in December and i actually prefer to get all the months update in one go rather then spread out compared to the US.

@Mezstizo

The first two games came out on both PS1 and PC on release day. The PC versions don't run at a higher resolution than the PS1 versions, so they're basically identical.

PSN+ is so confusing........... if you have to pay for the service, to access "free" products........ how is it free?

Don't you pay a monthly fee for telephone or cellphone use.
If the telephone company allowed you to make a long distance call without charging you for it, wouldn't that be a FREE call.

@IslandLife Yes, because PSN+ is absolutely essential and worthy of being compared to a telephone line and a mobile subscription....

These things have a clear value and people understand what it offers, PSN+ asks you to pay quite a large fee..... to receive "free" stuff, can you not see the difficulty sensible people may have with this scheme?

$50 a year is not a large fee. I have been very pleased with PS+ and will be renewing next year.

@golfs4panzys Im not talking about the cost, thats subjective, I mean Value.... something the service seems to really lack when compared to XBOX LIVE.

But with PS+ you get an optional $50 subscription with additional stuff for 'free' with LIVE you are essentially forced to subscribe in order to get the full functionality of your games.
In any case value is almost always subjective too. I am not a huge fan of online play. A 'free' copy of Abe's Oddysee is more valuable to me than live would be, but I'm sure everyone is different with that.

"something the service seems to really lack when compared to XBOX LIVE. "

You're right, when I buy live it unlocks major features of games and stuff that's already free on PSN. When I buy plus I get games, early beta access, free themes/avatars, constant discounts, and I even received an invite to the PS rewards beta. Yeah, definitely not worth anywhere close to $50, but to have basic online matchmaking is worth even $10 more!

@chimpsmith I dont know why people take the free online matchmaking on the PSN as justification for PSN+

Its an entirely different entity and is not part of Playstation plus' feature set, you will have that regardless of whether you subscribe or not. While XBOX LIVE is essentially NEEDED to get the full functionality out of the machine.

This gives XBOX LIVE subscription so much more value, something that the lucky dip, "free" stuff I mightn't necessarily want can ever offer. Im not saying XBOX LIVE is better than PSN, that subject doesnt matter here, this is just about comparing the value of both subscription plans.

@ll features ll but the value is dependent on the person and their situation.

You could argue that if they charged $50 billion for PSN just for a month and that you were forced to pay this just to turn your ps3 on that it was the most "valuable". Technically, it is most valued thing basically ever, however, to the majority of the people it's a ridiculously overpriced overvalued service.

For people who have an alternative to xbox live for online gaming, live is severely devalued. The only pull it really has is that some friends might not have the alternative and that currently owned games might already be on it. Your argument is like saying that it's more valuable to pay for slow shipping on gamestop.com than it is to pay for faster shipping on amazon just because you're forced to pay for shipping on gamestop or to have to go drive out to the store every time. It doesn't hold more value to anyone because of that, it but it might hold more value because a unique add-on is only available through gamestop.

I love how you talk about subjectivity and value but fail to connect the two. Value is extremely subjective.

@chimpsmith Your anaolgies are awful.... stop.

Putting the subjective stuff aside, Im saying that for MANY people including me its hard to see value in a scheme that asks you to pay to receive random "free" stuff..... which kinda, definetly isnt free at all.

Playstation Plus is essentially a big lucky bag service, and thats cool alot of people would probably get a kick out of the weekly/monthly surprises, but I doubt something like that has mass market appeal.

ARRGG. I just bought a copy of Abe's Exoddus because it was on sale! I assumed that they wouldn't be giving the second one away after they just made it on sale. What a waste of money, as I plan on keeping my PS+ subscription anyway.

When are you people going to stop arguing about Playstation Plus? It is very simple - if you see value, you buy it, and then you love it. If you don't see value, you don't buy it, then you don't care about it.

Anyways, thanks for posting what deals are coming down. I like to know to make sure I have taken advantage of everything I want, keep that up, 'Stiq.
