Team Meat considering retail for Super Meat Boy on Wii
19
Sure, we appreciate the fact that Team Meat's Super Meat Boy was conveniently downloaded onto our Xbox 360, but that doesn't do much to satisfy our unending urge to lovingly squeeze the game box ever so tightly. At the moment, there's nothing we can do about this (and no, not any old game box would do) -- but this may change. Tweeting from the Super Meat Boy account, the game's devs publicly wondered, "If we decided to try to find a publisher and do a boxed version for $20 (with extras) but come out later on the Wii, would you hold out?"
It seems that the tweet was at least partially in reaction to the game's WiiWare delay, said to be due to size constraints. One thing the folks at Team Meat certainly won't be doing? Splitting the game into chapters for digital release. "No split. It isn't as easy as 'cut it into parts.' The logistics of that are insane. That would push it out farther than a retail release," the devs also tweeted.
"We will figure this WiiWare issue out soon," Team Meat assured. "Should have official updates in a few weeks." Until then, well, we'll be playing ... Super Meat Boy.

As they have stated over and over again,
they even have a permanent statement on their FAQs page:
When is this coming out on PSN?
Answer: Never.

Depending on the extras I might have to skip the PC version.

@Yothe I was not aware of the level editor for PC. I take back what I said unless it also has a level editor.

I would love a retail version with extras, a booklet and a nice box art for $20, no more.

And throw in the level editor from the PC version too, please.

Already got the Xbox version and love it. I would only re get it if the extras were insanely good, I already got an awesome deal with it being only 800msp.

This would go great with the rest of my PSN games. If only...

Even though I have the XBLA version, I would still love to have a retail box version with extra contents.
Especially when there are no retail version of this game available for any platform, having it go retail would be a smart move.

I already own the 360 version but I would love to buy this at retail.

I'm all for it. It would also give them a chance to iron out any minor kinks the current versions may or may not have.

@Chazzr It's an 15 dollar game, so a 20 dollar retail disc would not be that much of an increase.

@Chazzr In the Tweet he said $20. As weak as pounds are right now, it's still more than a dollar, so I don't know how you managed to get the £30 from. Also, another thing is that boxed games have far more elastic prices: if you really don't want to pay £30 or even £15, it'll go down in price (extremely quickly, probably, considering how other Wii games sell and how their prices are consequentially affected -- pretty much all Wii games more than half a year old and not made by Nintendo are less than £15).

What would be the point in a publisher if the publisher wouldn't be funding the game?

You know... the game is very good and fun... but retail? I don't know, I will easily prefer to get a Sega Genesis collection for some how... "cheaper price" than this...
IMO, off course...
