Oh man. I loved Sidhe's last game, Shatter, and I was hoping this would turn out good, even though I'm not really interested. What a shame...

Agreed. I don't get how they went from something as amazing as Shatter -- to this.

Damn.

Actually, I'm not sure they'd care.

They're pretty explicit in their case that it's solely obscene violence towards humans that concerns them.

Mutilating the undead is completely in the clear.

I was cracking up while reading this. Much needed this work day. Thank you

It LOOKS a little like Carmegeddon (only you killed living people in that, not undead). I used to love that game. Wish that would be remade with all of the modern bells and whistles. I feel that way about a lot of Interplay games though.

@henchmanc

This is exactly what I wanted to say: looks like someone tried to remake Carmagedon but did a shitty job of it. Too bad, I loved that game. If I recall correctly, there was actually a zombie mode (well sorta, green blood) in one of the Carmagedon games.

@scratchh

The "zombie mode" was actually censored versions of the games, they also had green blood I think.

One of the most amazing and fun things about Carmageddon was its car damage modelling that really affected the physics of the car in some crazy ways, in Blood Drive it looks like things just catch on fire and then explode.

I thought pause meant to suspend actions, yet you can still get killed with a big screen blinding you.

This Game= Pass.

"Wait, a bland zombie game? How did anyone whiff in the game genre equivalent of the tee-ball league?"
Really? So the Resident Evil series, Dead Rising series, Dead Space series, Left 4 Dead series, Ghost 'n Goblins series (sure), and House of the Dead series (just to name a few) are all "teams" participating in the "Tee-ball League of Gaming" (TLG)? I'm pretty sure they're Major League players...

@ctplante can't reply to your post directly for some reason (and it's not showing up here?), but you have to select "continue cup" if you want to continue from the first event of the zone in the cup that you're up to. If you don't select continue cup, you won't continue.

@paljoey huh, I never saw that option. I'd select single player. Then the three options appeared. When I clicked Championship it always went straight to the cup selection menu. I'll give it another go. If I can get it to work for me, I'll make the fix. Thanks for the note.

Can you talk a little about the game itself Ctplante? We don't really know anything about the finer details.

Cars, weapons, modes, etc...

@dpnz666 Sure, here's a quick rundown from my notes.

8 vehicles. A mix of cars, trucks and a construction vehicle.
Weapon upgrades include machine guns, drunken missiles, grenades and mines.
There's a load out system, but you'll only need to use one: triple threat.
All cup's are essentially the same format, mixing together an increasing number of events and maps. Events include kill everything, kill certain things and hit checkpoints.
Multiplayer pulls from the same pool of events. Most of the time's I tried to find a game it loaded with bots.
Environments include a destroyed airport tarmac, a destroyed industrial facility, a destroyed urban environment, a destroyed parking garage and a destroyed Vegas-like strip.

I think that's the most of it. If you decide to pick up the game, here's a trick for racking up zombie body counts. Park near a health power up, wait for the zombies to swarm the vehicle, reverse quickly, fire into the horde, slam forward through any remaining zombies, collect the health pick up, find the next health pick up and repeat.

Hope any of this helps.

i shit my pants every time i even think about carmageddon being resurrected. i must be a twisted little bastard, because i seriously used to love smashing stuff in that game. the splatter effects were so cool.

can i get a road rash revision too, while we're at it? if it does come back, they must include soundgarden and live action cinematics or i will bury it again myself. right next to et.

I actually rented this and Dead Rising 2 last night, and I'm having a blast. I thought the graphics were pretty good, though the controls are a tad touchy. Unfortunately nobody plays online, but other than that, I'm loving it. It reminds me a lot of Roadkill on the original Xbox. The maps are pretty huge too, and each level is unique in its own ways. I dunno, If you see this for 20 bucks, I recommend it. I'm gonna pick it up when I see it for $25 or lower.

Sounds more like Carmageddon and Twisted metal had a baby. Sounds good in theory. Apparently it isn't good in practice.

Ps. I do love that pause screen. I think Joystiq should have it's own pause screen awards. *wink wink*
