I gotta say Kinect reviews are so far pretty good, and this just seems to be the lowest rated game.

I don't think Kinect is good for games that require good small use of motion and dexterity, the full motion body games are probably a safer bet for future games.

Yes, it sucks that it wasn't free, but what they should have done was include it with Kinect. Or they could have even tried to make it part of Kinect Adventures to expand that game even more.

@King Johngie the Fourth; I'm still sad this wasn't a free, controller based XLA game. Heck, I would've even payed money for it.

I'm disappointed that they've apparently killed what would have been a killer free game to turn it into this.

Kind of saw this coming.

I think it will take a little while before we see games that truly take advantage of the technology, until then we'll be stuck with these games that aren't much more than a few hours of gimmicky distraction.

There must be some poltics/shrewd business decisions (e.g., "it'll sell more as a Kinect launch title") behind Joyride going from controller to Kinect-only, because I refuse to believe at any stage someone said "holding an invisible steering wheel is going to make this a better game than what we already had planned".

This game looked so good I couldn't wait for it. Stunt runs, races, and free. I'd still pay around $10 for the Controller version with everything you said before you announced this MS.

Games like this will not help to sell kinect IMO.

You know what else won't help sell Kinect? The Wii! People have had 4 years of less than stellar novelty games made for octogenarians and the easily amused. If I wanted to play crappy motion games, I'll dust off my Wii, not spend $150 to turn my once respected Xbox 360 into the gaming equivalent of a Weird Al song.

Giving the PS3 and Xbox 360 motion gaming is like taking an iPod and retrofitting it to play cassettes. It's a crime against technology and that my friends, is the worst kind of crime.

@Milf Biggenson
So far from what i see you are spot on.
The wii proved that motion games are just novelties, they aren't really any fun after just a few mintues.

What i do agree with is the author when he says that woman (and children IMO) may still like this setup. They don't need precise control like people that play alot of video games do.

That really isn't much of a Review. What is good or bad about the game? how is the game play? All this was is a general idea of the game. That is part of a review, but part of a quick lazy review.

When I keep reading all these Kinect Reviews. It surprises me so much on the difference in them. If the game is generally good, then it seems like people can over look some of the controller quarks (which is bound to happen). others seem to focuse on the quarks and then say the rest of the game is crap because of it. Its really hard to figure out how good a game really is with Kinect. Honestly there might be a bigger learning curve then what people were hoping for. Maybe thats why the games don't get as good of reviews. Its not meeting our Exception.

This game is so broken. I tried it and my wife couldn't even a complete a lap in the same time it took me to finish the race.

Well, now I know why MS has an embargo on Kinect reviews, most are either decent or terrible. I still can't believe they think 5 million people will pick on of these up blindly in just one holiday season, personally I think they would be lucky to hit 3.

Sounds like this game should have been released via xbox live with the option to control with the kinect or standard controller.

I played a couple of races at PAX and my experience pretty much mirrors this review.

It's actually a pretty decent racing game and I'll give the developers credit that it works as well as it could all things considered but I much would've rather played it with a controller.

I was kinda hyped for this game as a regular-controller game... when announced for kinect, i thought... "well, maybe it'll be fun with optional kinect controls and stuff". But now that I know is kinect-only... blergh. What a waste of a potentially good kart game.

And the aching arm/dodgy reaction times is why T10 would me absolutely suicidal to waste limited development time adding Kinect to the next Forza. But then, I'm not their pay masters, am I Microsoft?

Personally, I thought the Demo for this game was pretty cool (The demos for Joy Ride, Dance whatever, and the workout "game") are included with Kinect adventures)
And for those of you, complaining it makes your arms sore... Grow a pair. That feeling is called toning your muscle. (Honestly my shoulders and arms are sore too, but I'm not going to complain about the free workout)
It sounds like there're a bunch of anti kinect people out there.... I don't get it. I bought it yesterday and I've been enjoying Sonic Free Riders and Kinect adventures. I've been sore as hell all day. My GF said she's pretty sore from it too.
