Poker Night at the Inventory adds to your Team Fortress 2 inventory

People don't just play poker for fun -- they play it to accrue piles of wealth. Telltale is providing similar, if small-scale, motivation to buy and play its crossover poker game, Poker Night at the Inventory, in the form of Team Fortress 2 items. You'll get one, the Heavy's poker visor, for pre-ordering from the Telltale Store, and you'll be able to get more from special Item Rounds within the game.

The items you'll be able to win from the game's other characters include Max's Lugermorph handgun for the Scout and Engineer, and a Freelance Badge that everyone can wear; an Enthusiast timepiece (Penny Arcade's infamous watch) for the Spy from Tycho; Strong Bad's Dangeresque shades, usable when the Demoman is gonna have to jump!; and from the Heavy, an Iron Curtain gun, for ... the Heavy. Not much of a loss on his part, then?

Check out a new trailer after the break. We'll warn you -- you're going to hear Tycho's voice (not the real Tycho, but a voice actor for the character), and it's going to be weird. Like seeing a radio DJ's face for the first time after hearing him, but in reverse.

The last line by the Heavy is golden.

Also, before anyone flips out, note that all the weapon unlocks for TF2 are just re-skins of existing guns (minigun, pistol, default Invisibility Watch). These items will have no effect on gameplay.

@WiNGSPANTT from TopTierTacticsco You can't be sure about that especially with the new weapons they've been dropping, everything does something like boost health or speed. Plus we already got a Sam & Max reskin and something about the bottom half of that heavy gun tells me it's not just a reskin

I feel the same about the mingun but the rest will be reskins. I find a reskin of the watch lame, but the blood on it makes me think it might be a new skin to DR.

While they will probably be just reskins, I see no reason not to make them real items. They never say anywhere that you would only be able to get the items from this game. What if the heavy gun and spy watch are real new items with stats that will also have the ability to drop in TF2? Then no one would have any reason to complain. It would make this game 1 way to get the new items, but you wouldn't be required to do it that way. Just like the mannco store it's just another way to get items.

Anyway, they Heavy voice is freaking me out. They should have gone for the original VA.

It is the original VA.

Just because he isn't shouting every line, doesn't mean it's not the same VA.

Look at the Engineer, the same VA does his voice for his updated lines in the Engineer update, and it sounds NOTHING like the original Engineer.

Voice recognition fail

Also remember kids, the Lugermorph and the Big Kill are just reskins.

This doesn't stop them form being the most sought after items in the game. Hopefully I can get a second Lugermorph so I can trade it. Won't be worth as much as Max's head or the Big Kill (which I am SO keeping) but should still be worth a hat or two.

Pre-orders from both the Telltale Games Store and Steam get the poker night visor - not just from the TTG store.

@Jokerman333 He's probably not a part of the voice actor's guild or something. I don't know all the specifics but apparently these lines run deep when it comes to media performances.

Maybe Jerry doesn't feel like his voice fits himself? Like when Jerry reads Tycho's lines, does he hear them in his voice or the voice they got for this game?

@Nolan North I guess that might be it. I'm just so used to hearing Jerry's voice on their podcast and associating him with the character. Maybe he's just trying to distance himself a bit from the character, make him seem like less of a Jerry analogue.

not exactly, note the words "not far off from." i'm just saying it's close to what i thought he would sound like. it's like that whenever they turn a strip into animation. nobody hears text in their head the same way, so it's never "totally right" when it's animated.

Why are you all bitching about Tycho's voice? Is there ANOTHER voice actor you would have selected?

And why do people think it's a different VA for the Heavy? It's very obviously the same one.

I think it's because we had over 12 years of him not having a voice, and suddenly hearing him is shocking.

It doesn't matter who voices him, it still would have sounded odd for us.

I know I was taken aback by him talking.

I'm glad it's not the real guy doing the VA. Tycho is a big guy, and you would hear that coming from the beanpole avatar. It would not sit well.
