The demo was just a boss fight, and it was as massively cheap and frustrating as the article describes. After the third time I almost killed him and for the finishing it jumps into the "Press B Then X Then A!" out of freaking nowhere (random order every time btw) and I missed it, and it gives him half his life back, I stopped playing and took a Xanax. Then I rocked myself to sleep before waking up and replaying Brutal Legend to rid myself of the bad memories.

Didnt you hear? All Warriors games and any game thats like them has to get low scores form western reviews, regardless of whether or not its a good game. Its like how all Halos have got good scores regardless of whether they are good games.

@TushLimbaugh

You realise the demo had TWO levels? a full level and a boss fight. Try playing a demo before passing judgment

I dont understand where this is coming from, i had no difficulty whatsoever fighting the boss. I did miss the quick time event because I didnt know it was coming, but i had no problem getting his health back down again

Me too. Missed the quick time, beat him down again and then did the QTE fine.

The problem I had with the game was that it was no fun. I deleted it just as soon as I beat the boss.

We all also have to remember that the demo may not reflect the final product. I can easily see the boss fight being too cheap. Even in the demo the boss jumped behind a fence/wall where you could not hit him and he threw fire, I think, that was difficult to get out of the way of. That and his gun that kicked your ass. tweaking the difficulty only slight could have caused a massive headache for me.

I don't understand why reviewers hate the "Dynasty Warriors" games. Every game does it's thing! I'm gonna buy it! o_o

Nope, at the main menu you could pick between Ken (the boss fight) and some other guy (the full level).

I love Fist of the North Star, but I'm really, really tired of Dynasty Warriors style games. KOEI should really move on to a new game design. I mean, they've been doing the same game for like, 10 years now?

Graphics are nice (except for maybe the lame gore efffects) but gameplay is as shallow as you'd expect from a DW game. Kenshiro deserves better.

@jesus lol Well, that's a whole different beast. I loved Dynasty Tactics 2... it was like a FF Tactics plus epic cinematics for your attacks and actions. I'd rather see a Samurai Tactics tho, I kinda dig japanese history more than chinese.

This game added alot of great stuff that hasn't been in previous warriors games... It is the best warriors entry this gen.. I think that should atleast have gotten it 3 stars.

Also it was very faithful to the IP.

@bloodsoul5 Those games are terrible, being the best Dynasty Warrior-like game isn't anything to be proud of and definitely doesn't mean that it should get at least 3 stars.

@jmood88 I think games are great. There is a reason they keep making them and thats because people keep buying them.

You either like warriors games or you don't and either is fine. But I don't see the point in all reviewers just shitting over every warriors game then. Why not review the game for the people who actually give a shit? Why not compare it to other games in the genre so people who are interested in these types of game can decide whether or not this one is good for them?

People who hate the warriors franchise are just gonna keep hating it regardless, why not review for the people who like it? To compare it to other games in the genre?

If all your reviewers don't like the genre, why even bother reviewing these games at all? I just don't see the point in consistently shitting over every warriors game that gets released.

@bloodsoul5 What's the point of reviewing it only for people who like it if we have already established that they inherently like it? Reviewing it for everybody else on the other hand, is beneficial in that it lets people know if anything has changed from game to game and that maybe they would be interested in picking this one up.

If you like Dynasty Warrior games, you'll like this.

If you don't, you won't.

It's just that simple.

Personally, I love the series of games, and I can't wait to get the new one when it comes out on PS3, but that's me. You might love it, you might not.

I think it might be best for more than one person to start doing a review on the site, especially on a series that's got such a big divide.

The boss fight in the demo didn't impress me much, but the full level (which you can play when you select the other character available) was pretty cool. I take my DW games in small doses and carefully selected intervals - I went from 3 to 5 (Empires) and also liked Bladestorm a lot, so I guess it will be a nice budget title for me.

I like DW games in a sense but this game just feels heavy and clunky. It's no Sengoku Basara. It may be just another DW clone but I feel it does the formula better than even DW games.

Hopefully you give the same scathing review to every other beat'em up you play because you just boiled everything down to be as simplistic as possible.

I can bet your next review will be hailing Black Ops as the jesus christ of gaming, yeah? Despite the fact you hold forward and hit right trigger through differently textured hallways for the entire game.

Hey, I didn't say I had an absolute blast with it. There were two parts to the demo, a boss fight and a full level. The boss fight was not very good, I can say that. I played the level part once, and found it entertaining for the 15 minutes that I played it. That's what I meant by kind of fun.

I look forward to the next Joystiq review that derides [big name FPS here] for repetition.

haters gonna hate.

Did you ever play arcade games in the 90's? TMNT, captain America and the avengers, X-men, the list goes on and on...

Ken's rage is the same damn thing in 3D.
Are all the stages similar? Yes. IT'S THE F***'IN NUCLEAR HOLOCAUST. you're not going to get a whole lot of scenery changes, it's a wasteland. Were the QTE's Necessary? No. Did it take me more than twice to finish them? No. Are you just complaining because you suck at a game that's not CoD or some other steaming pile of crap that's been redone over and over? Yes.

Would you kindly throw yourself in a lake.

"based on the 1980s anime series that begot cartoons, animated features and (ta-dah!) video games."

Putting aside the fact that this was first a manga, isn't it a bit bizarre to say that an anime series begot cartoons? Or was there a Western animated series adapted from the work?

There was also a Western live-action movie.

The manga kicks all kinds of ass, the western movie really sucked though...

Also, is it just me or have most reviewers lost all semblance of joy or patience in their work?
