In case the flood of promotional messages from your friends hasn't tipped you off yet, here's some news: a lot of people have checked out the Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit demo on Xbox Live and PSN. According to some stats from EA, "more than" two million consoles downloaded the demo within the span of two weeks, making it the most successful demo for the series yet.
Throughout their time with the demo, players have raced across 54 million miles of road in Seacrest County, resulting in over 20 million busts by law enforcement. If you were looking to get in on either side of the conflict, we're afraid you can no longer download the demo. But! We've got the next best thing: our review of the game!.
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit launches on November 16 for the PS3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and Windows PC.

I still think it was stupid, needing a friend to have the demo for the second track.

Why was the demo for a limited time only? I rarely buy games without trying them first, and I could have been a possible buyer. Makes no sense.

If you have it downloaded, I've heard you can still play it if you set your clock back on your system. You might have to be disconnected from PSN too. I haven't gotten a chance to try it yet and it's not the greatest solution, but I might check it out until my copy of the game arrives.

My itching for GT5 had me interested in this game. I was about to d/l the demo to try it out.
I understand their motivation... you want more you gotta pay. But I would have been more likely to buy if I had gotten around to playing the demo.
Probably a loss for both parties.

@Poor Tom I had no idea this was even coming out until I read the review on here, then I saw there was a demo, tried to download it, got an error message, then it was removed. Judging by the 5 star review on here, I may have bought this day one, depending on if I enjoyed the demo. As it is? Too many other games to bother, now maybe when it goes to 10-15 bucks I'll pick it up.
Same boat as you, potential customer down the drain.

Downloaded twice, one for 360 and one for PS3. Good work Criterion.

I didn't even know a demo was out.

Funny, since I was unable to get my Xbox to download it, myself. Of course, I blame my internet, as it was being erratic at the time.
Anyone else have trouble with downloading it on the 360, or just me?

I finished downloading it today.. and realized it wasn't available anymore. I'd really like to try it, after that 5 stars scores, the game looks great for me, after losing interest in the past 3 NFS.

I found the demo a little uninspiring.. am I the only one?

No. I was so uninspired I didn't even bother to play, and since it was limited time only I will never play.
After watching a few videos of the gameplay it didn't catch me. I'd rather go back to playing Burnout Revenge again. I wish They'd make another racing game like that (Paradise was not).

Was hoping for something more burnout'ish with the demo so I spent my game money on black ops.
I'll def pick it up at $40 though

Well, if you played it that much, now you're going to be very hungry to make a purchase. I've enjoyed a lot of demos and didn't actually buy the game.
I guess they want to make sure your taste sample doesn't satisfy you.
I, however, never got a chance to sample the demo so I have no idea if I'd enjoy the game. I hope they put the demo back out after the initial launch rush subsides. I think that's the ideal sales model.

Why no PC demo?

I was never able to download the demo because it was only for Xbox Live Gold members. And now it's gone? WTF. I figured it would become available to non-gold people at some point.
