LA Noire 'first trailer' is here, coming 'Spring 2011'
131
Update 12:02pm – We've got the trailer embedded just past the break. Does it look like the original 2006 trailer below it? Not really. The most notable addition: color. The slick black-and-white aesthetic has been replaced with bright colors, not unlike other LA-based noir tales, like Chinatown and LA Confidential. And while you're watching it, get a load of those facial animations. Kind of freaky, right? We can't tell if they're perfect or terrifying, but we're leaning towards the former for now.
And perhaps the most notable addition to this "first trailer" is the release window: Spring 2011. That's just a few short months away, folks. Expect to be hearing a lot more about LA Noire soon ... or not. This is Rockstar we're talking about.
Original post – Heads up: The "first trailer" for Rockstar's open-world crime caper, LA Noire, is scheduled to appear in just about an hour from now. While Rockstar calls this its "first trailer," some of you may think back to the CGI trailer released back in October 2006, almost exactly four years ago.
Watch that old one after the break and check back shortly for the new stuff.

Technically you can't misspell a proper title or name. After that though if you're still crying
Mortal Kombat, Pursuit of Happyness, Inglorious Basterds, anything JRPG that really isn't a word (show me Revenant, Dissidia, Undiscovery... Point being, there's a lot of other things to be angry about with shittier titles.

Odds are that L.A. Noir with correct spelling was already copyrighted somewhere

I think that was before they decided that Sony hadn't money hatted this game enough, so they decided to go multi-platform with it.

Not this again. LA Noire was never a Sony funded PS3 exclusive. Thats been a huge misconception for a long time. The Sony funded PS3 exclusive (in exchange for letting T2 & R* out of the GTA IV exclusivity deal) is a game called Agent.
Either way ... This game is shaping up awesome.

actually you are wrong...it was proven a while ago that Sony let Rockstar take over L.A Noir only because they offered to make Agent. GTA4 has nothing to do with any of this.Sony had sunk over 20 million into L.A Noir without results so when Rockstar decided to take over, Sony asked for an exclusive rather than money... Sony was the first publisher....even Game Informer said so...
That said im wondering if a third party exclusive from Rockstar is better than a First party exclusive with new amazing tech. I think they made a good choice.

Geoff Keighly: "Everyone is wondering why PS3 lost GTA IV as an exclusive." It turns out there is another part to the story which Jack exclusively reveals to (inaudible). Is there any frustration that Grand Theft Auto IV is not exclusive .....
Jack Tretton: What we're really excited about is the next great franchise from Take 2. And in exchange for letting them out of that exclusivity [ for GTA IV] we've got the rights to the next great franchise from Take 2, exclusive.
Geoff Keighly: Is that LA Noire or what is it?
Jack Tretton: It is a title to yet be determines ... thats the beauty.
Geoff Keighly: So they had to negotiate with you guys to get out of the exclusivity deal for Grand Theft Auto IV?
Jack Tretton: I don't know that it was necessarily a negotiation, we did some good things for them and they did a lot of great things for us. They had interest in bringing it [GTA IV] multiplatform, we respected that and we said ... you know, we certainly have no problem with that but we'd sure like to keep this relationship going and get our hands on the next great franchisefrom you guys.

Shortly After in June of 2007:

The developer that did so much for the PlayStation 2 with the Grand Theft Auto series looks set to bring an all-new game franchise to the PlayStation 3.
A totally new game franchise will be coming from Rockstar Games--creator of the Manhunt and Grand Theft Auto series--and it will be exclusive to Sony's PlayStation 3.
SCEA's director of third-party relations, Michael Shorrock, wrote on the official US PlayStation blog, "As part of our long standing relationship with Rockstar, and the incredible success for both companies with the cultural icon that is Grand Theft Auto we've agreed to the PlayStation exclusive rights of the next great franchise from the Rockstar studios."
**********Nothing whatsoever was revealed about the new franchise except the clarification that it would not be LA Noire. **********

Funny cause game informer had a more recent interview with the developer (2010). And cover story....they got a question if it was ps3 exclusive and they said ...originally it was ... thats them talking directly to the games creative director.
Then there was a bunch of anonymous posts about the state of the game... i believe game informer over any of those websites...especially casue they got the world exclusive first story... most of that talk Tretton gave seemed like he didnt want to outright say GTA4 was originally going to be ps3 exclusive

theres also the fact that a while ago Rockstar had to send someone to Bondi to calm them down because porting over to the 360 would take a miracle...something about squeazing it all onto the 360...which means it was originally developed as a ps3 exclusive... this stuff is all directly from the Team Bondi...quotes over the past year...THEY ARE RECREATING LA! think True crime but way more detailed

You can believe what you want but I'll take the word of Sony's president and CEO that LA Noire was not the game given in exchange for letting Take2 out of the GTA IV exclusivity deal.
I provided facts and links ... you provided anecdotes from a magazine article you are recalling of the top of your head.
Let me state this clearly: LA Noire was a never a Sony funded PS3 exclusive. LA Noire was not the exclusive Sony got in exchange for letting Rockstar out of the GTA IV exclusivity deal. Period.

It appears they are making an open-world game of LA Confidential.
While I loved that movie I was expecting this to be a PI detective story. A Sam Spade or Mike Hammer. Cops are boring now, give me a hard-boiled PI with a quick fist and a way with the dames. Multiple cases and problems to solve, not GTA:1940PD.

It actually looks kind of bizarre and jarring. The lip syncing and facial animations are second to none, but that coupled with the slightly clunky character models and washed out color palette makes for a strangely unsettling mix. It's certainly impressive, but also creepily uncanny.

Yeah, the facial animations are definitely deep in the uncanny valley for me, at least at this point in development.
