Wish I could play 5 bucks for that map pack, that seems fair. They are still gonna sell a boatload at 10 though.

@Dirty Give it some time. Most of Halo's 3 map packs eventually went to free. That's pretty much the game plan for these map packs.

I will easily spend $10 on a Halo map pack. Just think about all the times you'll be playing on those maps.

I usually pass on DLCs that extend a campaign because the replay value vs price is so low (compared to map packs).

Incorrect. The Heroic map pack for H3 went free about four months after its debut.

for those who don't know, you won't be restricted from any playlists if you don't get the map pack. you'll just be matched with other people who don't have the pack.

that said, i spend so much time with Halo it'll be well worth it for me.

@343 Guilty Fart

He was correct. Heroic was the only one to go free. There are still 3 other map packs that aren't free. 1 out of 4 certainly isn't "most"

10 bucks isn't that bad. I'm willing to pay that. Now, if it was 15 like the MW2 packs, I'd be pissed.

I'm Fine with the DIme

with that logic, i hope you did not pass up on the undead nightmare add-on for red dead, because it is simply awesome. well worth the $10 and all it does is expand the campaign (kinda sort of). i also think the alan wake add-ons are well worth the price, as well. just depends on how much value a dollar for you YOU i suppose.

Not so sure about this Noble map pack...

I haven't really been on since the level cap raised either, because as much as I love Halo, seeing your exp bar go up about a half a centimeter after playing tons of games where you performed well is the least satisfying feeling in the world....

the new invasion map might be enough to tilt me in the other direction though

@Ryuk: I can understand the frustration, but Bungie will start having double XP weekends to help people get through those ridiculous levels. Plus, the maps will make you forget about the levelling a little by providing more variety, especially to Invasion, where it was much needed.

@Ryuk I just wish the actual skill matching would work like it did in Halo 3. Seems I get matched up with guys who have played way more than me, so I end up in last place almost every game. Sometimes on team slayer, I can make it to 3rd place on my team! I know I'm not great, so I'd like to at least play against guys who are as bad as me.

And I for SURE will stay away during the free weekend. Gonna have all the l33t hax0rs on there with free gold accounts feeling good about p0wning n00bs...

@Ryuk; Back in my day, we played video games for FUN, not to see some "progress bar" or "rank" increase.

Ya, pretty sure back in your day you played video games to get the high score. So much for fun =P We all have goals.

There is one thing I have never adapted to, and probably will never...
Buying map packs. Since I really got into shooters with CS Beta 7, all new maps I got were either free updates from developers or were made by the mod community. It just feels weird to pay for a map. Dunno if I'm the only one living behind the times like this though :(

I'm with you, but I can also see why publishers would charge this much for them. Namely, because people pay.

Sadly there are a large number of gamers out there who like paying for new maps enough to justify the $10-15 price. If only $10-15 downloadable games had nearly as much demand.

I don't really mind publishers charging for maps so much as I mind the release of these maps preventing me from enjoying the same multiplayer game experience I purchased when the game was released. I don't want my multiplayer experience to deteriorate because I refuse to continue paying additional money for new stuff.

As an example, I remember how when Gears of War came out with its first map pack, I was often unable to join games because I couldn't see a list of games that did not require the new maps.

So the deal of the week isn't that much of a deal, Hasbro Family Game Night retail version is $20 and you get Connect Four, Battleship, Yahtzee, Boggle, Sorry! and Sorry! Sliders. You save $10 if you just buy the retail version. =/

They should have had them at $2 each.

@CapAmerica Yep. Last time there was a deal on the on line games, I bought most of them. A week later, Best Buy had the disk for $20.

@CapAmerica Well, at the very least Jenga, Connect 4x4 and Pictureka are on sale so you can get them then buy the disc.

Family Game Night is the biggest ripoff on XBLA. Having to pay for each individual game in the Game Night "game" is awful. The whole set is barely worth the XBLA price of 1200MSP, let alone when you split them up.

$10 is a bit steep for three maps, so I'll be waiting on that. One of the three (Tempest) looks way too similar to an outdoor Reach map that I can't think of the name of.

I wonder when will this map pack will be featured in the deal of the week promo.

I could definitely wait 1-2 months.

I still need to buy all the DLC for lef4dead 2 and DA O.
