Sony confirmed the release date for Gran Turismo 5 (again) today: November 24 is the date you can circle in your High Polygon Cars of 2010 novelty calendar.
In announcing the new date, Polyphony Digital's Kazunori Yamauchi (pictured above hand-pressing each and every GT5 disc himself!) said, "Satisfying the loyal Gran Turismo followers is at the heart of all of our efforts, which is why it was such a difficult decision to delay the release of the game, and one which we did not take lightly. I can only apologize to everyone for making you wait so long, and I hope that when you try out the wealth of driving experiences available in Gran Turismo 5, you will not be disappointed."
And just because we like (and, yes, feel a little sorry for) you, Gran Turismo superfan #1, we'll point out Amazon's deal of the day: a third-party PS3 steering wheel, just the thing you need to get ready for GT5. Should you take Amazon up on its offer, the wheel would be in your home well before November 24, or whatever future date Sony inevitably pushes Gran Turismo 5 back to.

Damn! That's amazing technology if Gran Turismo 5 can fit on a single CD-R!! Kazunori Yamauchi is an amazing bastard!! And he's doing it with his bare hands! I knew that guy was a mystic!

Don't worry. It'll live up to them so well that it'll kill them.
It's the kinda death I've been waiting for.

Oh no... You need to use ALL of those discs to play GT5!

It's a driving simulator. You've got to learn to swap out your CD's while you're driving.

Great pic.
But since apparantly people are already playing it in some parts of the world, wouldn't this release date just be an official release date, and not a release date release date?

Speaking of steering wheels and GT5, if you preorder GT5 at Future Shop (obviously, Canada only), you get a free steering wheel. Apparently it's not suppose to be the best quality, but its better than stickers or whatever crap other games offer as pre-order bonuses.

so let me get this straight ...
GT5 - one of the biggest games in the history of Playstation - is being released in less than two weeks, the day before a major US holiday?
Yeah, that sounds feasible and not a stupid marketing decision at all. Are they planning to do three days of ads to announce it? Because by the time they run out the press and marketing materials and distribute it all that's about how much time they will have to advertise it.

Let me help you get this straight.
Gran Turismo is going to sell well regardless. It is going to continue to be a big seller for a very long time.
Black Friday is a big selling day in the US, and a lot of people will get this via the internet anyway.
I'm sure the biggest disappointment is that some people would have bought a PS3 and GT5 and perhaps a 3D TV as a gift, and that sort of gift takes planning. It's still going to move hardware and do well for a long time. I bet it's still selling quite a lot of units in a few months.

I'll be buying a PS3 that weekend and playing my copy of GT5 that G4 is SUPPOSED to send me. I might just buy it because I'm not sure if I can wait that long.

Game is done. That's the funny thing. It's already out there, there are videos of people playing it. It made this last delay odd because some people have already gotten their hands on it.
And someone needs to mail Kazunori Yamauchi this picture.

I don't care about Gran Turismo 5, I just popped in because the animation was so dang epic. Great job!! Just a note: The animation flies in Firefox but drags in Safari. Don't ask me why I happen to know that.

Too late. Had it come on time I would have bought it, but I won't play it even if I did buy on the 24 thanks to NFS: Hot Pursuit and Assassin's Creed:Brotherhood. Speaking of AC, anybody else find it funny that AC was able to crank out 3 games before Gran Turismo was able to produce one?

And you think people actually CARE about you buying NFS (...too easy to make fun of...where to start) and AC?
