It's a shame bigger companies don't do this more often when they design a game for an HDTV, and don't think about people with SDTV's, and the text is unreadable.

@Drakkenfyre

It also affects, to a lesser extent, people with smaller HDTVs. I tend to need to be closer to my screen to read the text in some games without difficulty.

Agreed. I'm playing through DeathSpank now and most of the text in the in-game menu is incredibly hard to read, even with an HDTV. I don't see any advantage to making the text so small, either. The Wii seems to get by just fine without it.

I used a patch that promised enlargement once. I hope this one works better.

This makes me sad, in the sense that the game seems really great, and the developers are obviously keen to fix their mistakes, yet there is no system in place to mark up reviews based on games being improved. :(

especially for these downloadable games. For retail games i can understand, as not everyone has the internet hooked up to their ps3/xbox so they could play the game but not get the patch. However on a downloadable game you NEED the internet to even buy it so its a given your going to download patches.

Good idea. www dot mmorpg dot com does re-reviews. Its a good idea since many MMOs become better over time due to patches. I think more traditional games should be re-rated after a year since now-a-days most games are repatched anyways. There should be a section on websites to read re-reviews. But if this is the only thing that was an issue for the game, then I don't know if that merits a re-review. Re-reviews are good for games that many things had changed and made the experience all that much better. Then again, perhaps being able to read text better makes it that much better.

How about more than two maps for 2 dragon co-op?

Very fun game, my son love it "Daddy, let's terrorize some villagers." Doesn't get much better for a six year old.

I'd second that motion.

Actually, I would think that a map editor would not be too much of a chore for a game like this. That's one of the things I'd like to see.

Reminds me of the whole Dead Rising small text on SD-TVs issue. Except with Capcom being a Kapanese company, they, of course, completely ignored the issue and their customers.

The text issue irritated me so much that I went back to playing The Horde on the Saturn. At least that game has text I can read. And Kirk Cameron.

This is a very fun, addictive game, but I agree about the text size. I have a 60" HDTV and I was sitting 7 feet away and still had to squint to read the text. I'm glad they're fixing it.

Regardless, though, the game has tons of replay value and I found myself repeating a mission endlessly until I earned a gold badge. It's tons of fun and great with other players, too. Highly recommended.

Nice how a small company can do this but it couldn't be done for Dead Rising 1.

If this was an oversight because they were staring too closely at their development monitors, then it's obvious that there was no formal testing involved as a finished product.

...well, unless the testers had super-ultra-vision.

I wouldn't be surprised if the game had more bugs ready for the consumer--not the developers' testers--to discover.

@JRMG Hi JRMG--sometimes stuff slips through, but rest assured the game was fully tested both internally and via an external testing company. While no game is bug free, we are proud that HOARD is very stable. Don't be concerned that testing has been left to the consumer--it's definitely not the case. But we appreciate feedback and will continue to support HOARD and try to address any issues that are discovered!
