I just looked at some of the wish list items these hospitals are requesting for the kids.

Um what sick kid needs an Apple Ipad, let alone 5 of them? seriously???

Im all for donating to help bring a smile to a childs face but some of the gifts these hospitals are asking for, for the kids is just crazy. Makes me think these adults are using this for their own personal interest.

@Bronxchulo

Child's Play has been around for a while. I can pretty much guarantee this money isn't being pocketed. Ipads are probably on there because they're new, and can be used for gaming.

It does seem that a few of those items are outlandish for sick kids. I mean kids go to the hospital to get well, not play videogames. However, I do understand for some kids, like the ones who have to stay at the hospital for a while.

If you think about it, the games on an iPhone/iPod/iPad would be the easiest to control, especially for sick children, some who may actually be handicapped.

The website states that larger, more expensive donations like consoles are permanently kept at the hospital, so children can check them out and play them during their stay. I'm willing to bet that this is how the iPads are treated as well.

@Warfare20 I dont give two shi*ts if the sick child wants an Ipad he/she better damn well get one. If the child wants to smash it, I don't care. If it makes them happy for one second it was worth it. I would do everything possible to make my boy happy if he became seriously ill. That is what this is all about. Who cares about the price when a kid can feel normal for just one glorious moment?!!

@Guts

It's not a person. It's probably the Flash videos from IGN come to life to ruin Christmas.

Side note...I still have Sword of the Berserk in my DC library. Happier times.

My girlfriend would do the same with the #2 hat if she could. High five for that, though.

All of this, and still people are anti-gamer.

All gamers need to get together and somehow make a real-life Kratos/Snake/Mario to deal with the non-believers. They will be brutally murdered in 900% gore, ninja-stealthed or jumped on.

...Or you know... Sonic'd. (Getting remade over and over again, only to fail and eventually look to gamers for help/guidance)

@CrowDieSlow Your not the only one. Before I even finished reading the title I was already thinking how a game based on Child's Play would work.

You just had to say the worst possible thing over a children's charity. You sir, are an ass. You couldn't have thought of chuckie first.

Great cause! I'm going to donate as soon as pay day gets here. Looks like the hospital in my state isn't too far from me too.

Wow, these comments suck. Oh boo! Sick getting to play with iPads! OMG! The injustice!! Not that a matters, because being in the hospital for any amount of time for any reason totally is not cool, but some of these kids maybe in palliative care.

Maybe they want those children to experience what it feels like to have those expensive gadgets right? Second, if you are doubting charity events like this then you should personally help those people without going to any sponsors/middleman.

I donate 10% of my total video game expenses every year.

Also, there are probably people who think that map is accurate... which is both funny and sad.

Over at Elder Geek they're doing a 48 hour charity marathon of Fallout: New Vegas for Childs play. I think they're even doing raffles of the game to anyone who donates.
