Fable 3 'Understone Quest Pack' and 'Exclusive Hair Pack' DLC coming Nov. 23
56
If you've already managed to exhaust Fable 3's on-disc offerings and are looking for some way to download more content for the RPG sequel, Microsoft Game Studios isn't about to let that impulse go unrewarded. About one month following the retail launch of Fable 3 comes the "Understone Quest Pack," in which your hero "will discover a mysterious town built beneath the streets of Bowerstone, crafted by eccentric inventor Montague Hummes." This is an all-new town with places to shop (and purchase outright) and "novel creatures to battle." That's got a sort-of Fahrenheit 451 vibe to it, no? In its main quest, "The Voice," you'll explore Understone and "discover the origin of the voice that controls the people of Understone."
Also included in the Understone Quest Pack is the "Shooting Range" – the Mercenary Camp is now a tourist attraction! – and the "Wheel of Misfortune," in which Reaver's arena has been recycled into a standalone feature. All that for 400 Microsoft Points ($5) seems like a pretty reasonable deal to us. Now the Exclusive Hair Pack – featuring corn rows, afro and asymmetrical bob styles for 160 Microsoft Points ($2), and the 5 Star Dog Potion for 80 Microsoft Points ($1), seem like notably lesser deals.
All three downloads will be available on November 23, so mark your (now a collector's item) Milo 2010 calendar accordingly.

Not a SPOILER Alert
But the glitches killed the game for us. Fable 3 will be Gone, AND forgotten to the gamestore for a trade in.

I heard about the 121 days thing just as I hit 121 days so I was lucky. But yeah, very poor on their part.
Furthermore, they don't have anymore Kingly duties! 10 or so decisions isn't vary many, I want to change things further.

@Rollins I know exactly what you mean, I thought I still had some time to build up for the final battle. I thought I had at least 2 more quests, that ending ruined a game that I doubted a lot. Sure its not great, but its a very enjoyable game and it had actual moments I will remember unlike the forgettable second part.

What's great is that I saw this DLC Quest Pack available for DL the day before the game was released on xbox.com marketplace. They then took it down the day the game was released, obviously they listed it a little too early. Nothing like having an RPG (or any game really) holding back on their quests/content to just turn around and sell them as DLC. I am all for getting DLC after the game has been out for months, but having it ready to be released day one instead of in the game that I paid for is crappy.

In some cases I would be with you, but the thing that a lot of people seem to forget is that the game has to be completed weeks, maybe even months in advance so that disc's can be printed.
During that time, I am all for them working on the DLC. Now, there was that Tomb Raider game where we know the ending was pulled out and released at DLC. I think it was on one of the 1Up podcasts that we found out. Now that is pretty shitty. This, this I think is what they were working on while the disc's were being printed.

@Dirt55 especially when the new content isn't really much content at all. been reading around the net about what it entails and, even for the $5 asking price, sounds over-priced to me. i also love that they are selling the dye/hair packs as their own, separate, add-ons. i smell a sham and will not be buying any of this DLC. the game was fun, but its almost criminal to me that devs/publishers do this sort of thing to their customer base.

Hold on - the 5 Star Dog Potion for $1 is reasonable if it levels your dog up to 5 stars immediately.

@Morph156 My Jasper stopped talking on my second play through, but frankly I was very annoyed with him constantly telling me there were items in the sanctuary shop. There was no way in hell I was buying the stupid dog outfit, but he kept on telling me about it.

Totally agree. I'm glad someone else posted this, because I was just about to do so. The Jasper thing sucks, but honestly I didn't even notice that he wasn't talking anymore until I read that was such an issue.
I can't even play the game if I want to switch weapons, clothes, or magic. The Sanctuary is a completely stupid, broken mechanic I just can't believe any respectable game developer would leave it in this state!
I actually have to save my game in the Sanctuary, then quit to the Dashboard, and reload the game just to continue playing my game where I left off before I pressed "Start".
It's kind of ironic (maybe?), since hitting Start actually ends the game you are playing... :(

Umm, why do you have to do that? Do you have some glitch that doesn't let you leave the sanctuary?

I'm looking forward to the DLC. I'm on my 2nd play through and would love some extra content. My 1 complaint is that there is only 1 game save slot. Fable 1 and 2 both had the ability for multiple saves, why does Fable 3 not have that same ability.

To access other saves after creating a new game go to game management and select load, you can then choose which hero you wish to play.

I just have not been able to get into this game. I have only managed to put in a couple of hours.
So many games to play right now and everytime I put in FIII I decide to play something else shortly there after.

In my humble opinion this would have been a strong contender for game of the year had it not had so many glitches and bugs. I was only a few weapons and gnomes away from full completion and was told my save file was corrupt and had to restart. Love DLC Lionhead but I will not buy until I see some patches rolling out.

That the "Exclusive Hair Pack" exists and will be bought is proof of how horrible the idea of DLC is now.
I remember when DLC was a relatively new concept and we could dream of actual content for acceptable prices. Not this sort of release-the-game-unfinished-and-charge-extra-for-DLC crap. Even if we pretend these sorts of things weren't intentionally withheld from the base games, it still means they're wasting time on this useless stuff instead of patching the games up to an acceptable level of polish.

@Mehbah DLC has gotten significantly better, even if crap like 'hair packs' is still getting offered. Don't tell me people have forgotten about horse armor already?

@Cleric Unless you're capable of actually looking through the disc's files, I'm guessing that the vast majority of claims about DLC being "already on the disc" are simply not true and gross exaggerations. If you have evidence to the contrary, feel free to post it. As it is the few instances when it's actually been confirmed are relatively rare and well publicized. (RE5, Bioshock 2).

Almost all of the DLC was actually included in a file called "day one DLC" that was downloaded by everyone for their Free Weapons. The current crop of DLC (including a Dye pack that WAS removed from the game to sell back for a quick buck) are all in that file & are just unlocked when purchased. Which means it was all packaged & ready to go before release & has just been placed on the market place step by step. Whether you've bought all the current DLC available, only downladed the free DLC or were actually able to grab everything from the marketplace on day one when it was all accidentally released, you have the same file on your HDD.
I like DLC & think it's a great concept normally, but LH has pulled a pretty crappy move this time around with the little nickel & dime stuff like dyes & hairstyles that were definitely held out pre-release & not made after the game went gold. I'd say it's worse than the Horse Armor really.

@Cleric That doesn't do anything to prove it was on the disc already. Especially when the post in question says it's a 195mb file they downloaded from the marketplace.

Preface: I bought and finished Fable2 and all of it's overpriced DLC (missions). But after trying to just make the disaster that is Fable3 even work, I can say without exaggeration that Lionhead will never receive another dollar from me.

I was expecting to come in here and be all mad about it, but that sounds like pretty reasonable and enjoyable DLC. If nothing else, the Reaver's Arena thing sounds like a good way to get your hero weapons to morph the way you want them to

Surprised how nobody mentioned that it's actually cut content that was put on the marketplace by accident when the game launched.

This is pretty funny. I'm reading this DLC and thinking to myself, "I already have this!" THen I read someone's comment above who said he saw it on live the day before it came out. That's true...I bought it the day before it came out in preparation for the game. It's been a part of my game since the beginning.
It's a good DLC pack too btw. The gun you get from the shooting range is my go to gun.

Got my friend the 360 LE edition and I will be getting the AArrggg PC edition before putting any more money down on it.
Probly pick up the GOTY edition with most of the DLC in it if they bother releasing it o the PC if not I will be forced to get it for the 360. I like Fable but it could use more AI fix'es more generated equipment...think Daiblo+ fable with better combo and combat systems.
