1 was crazy fun, Second was a pile of poop in a bag on fire outside a dog house. This looks awesome.

@Faenix Just Cause 2 was too damn big. Too much to do. I ran around the antennae cradle for an hour trying to find the final object to destroy, but to no avail. Mercs 2 rocked. People are too freakin picky this day and age.

Being one of the few that enjoyed Mercs 2 I'm very sad I will never get to play this :(

Mercenaries is still my favourite open world action game. The sequel left a bad taste in my mouth, but it's still sad to think they'll never be able to redeem themselves with what should have been a great series. This looked promising too.

Meh, Mercenaries 1 was ok. Mercenaries 2 was really bad. I'm glad 3 doesn't get to see the light of day

You shouldn't see the light of day either. Get back under your bridge.

I also enjoyed The Saboteur. The b&w to color mechanic wasn't as epic as I thought it would be, but it still was a really fun well done game IMO. I wish there was going to be a follow up.

Mercenaries was a great game. I have no idea how or why they released such a garbage game like Mercs 2. That game is probably the most broken video game I've ever played. I'm just glad I was able to get a few bucks for it from somebody who didn't know how broken and completely worthless it was.

Fortunately Just Cause has taken the torch Mercs left behind.

Maybe in the playground aspect, where it's just shear brainless, adrenaline fueled fun, but not when it comes to single player mission design ... in which Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction is arguably king of the hill when it comes to these types of games.

I'm not hating on Just Cause in the slightest either, btw. As one of the few who purchased, played, and fell in love with the original game, I love the series so far. It's just, you know, severely lacking in the actual mission design and progression.

@Jack Kevorkian

If you try and put just cause 1 and mercs 1 on the same platter, the half with just cause 1 on it will break.

Just Cause 1 is a horrible game in comparison to Mercs 1 and 2.

(Haven't actually played Just Cause 2 to compare it)

Pandemic seemed to excel at releasing not-very-good-games which were fun almost in spite of themselves.
I actually rather liked Mercs 2 (although I never played the first, and it helped that I picked it up for $5 in a Blockbuster Video fire sale) and The Saboteur was unfairly maligned - sure it looked half finished but the story was engaging, the gameplay was MUCH more fun than GTAIV and stealth killing Nazis is always going to entertain, no matter how shoddy a game is visually.

@milespieri

Well GTAIV wasn't meant to be fun. Sandbox games with actual direction are for masochists.

Pandemic isn't actually closed. Pandemic is EA LA, which is still around.......... they just formally retired the name and fired off the jackasses who lead development for its titles.

The Saboteur was an awesome game, only parts that I absolutely hate was.

1. It ended
2. So many freaking outposts and all that.. think there was like 1100. x.x
3. Will never see a sequel
