@jtsuth - Picked it up earlier today. So far, so good. UPLAY linking with the Facebook game is little shaky (it says there's no save game associated my UPLAY acount, yet I've been playing it - and, consequently, saving - for the past two hours, yet nothing).

I hate it. (not the game)
I despise all these devs, making awesome games that I simply MUST buy yet don't have the time or money to play. *opens wallet* *looks inside* *cries*

Also, I think of this game as being an Assassins Creed 2-2 i.e. what Final Fantasy X-2 was to FFX. As, while AC2 was technically a sequel the MAIN story line was set hundreds of years later...
IMO that's the best way to look at it.

I liked Ass Creed 2, however I felt it lacked the life and authenticity of Ass Creed 1.

Are you serious? I thought Ass Creed 1 broke down into 5 missions, that were wash-rinse-repeated ad nauseum:
#1. stalk a guy and press a button to pickpocket him
#2. sit on a bench
#3. climb something
#4. stalk a guy and press a button to kill him
#5. swordfight!

Granted, it's not like you have a lot more options in AC2, but they did wisely eliminate the oh-so-fun bench-sitting mission type. Also, in AC1, I just _knew_ that when I came into an area, I would have to sit on some benches, climb some towers, and pick some pocketses. The story was only really progressed by main character assassinations or conversations with your handler. It's like all the missions were side missions, and there were no story missions. I felt AC2 was more compelling because most of its missions were core, story missions ...and then on top of that it had the optional and/or frivolous side mission things..

Like...stupid flags and feathers. I can't believe you listed them in a way that implies they're a virtue, joystiq!

I don't know what it is about Ass Creed 2. I know that it's a million times better than Ass Creed 1, everyone I know keeps telling me to finish it, but whenever I sit down and decide to play video games, something, anything else I find more enticing

You don't have to play the first, like, at all. It does so little to further the actual storyline that it's almost insulting. The game is literally ~20 hours of setup for AC2.

Just play AC2. It'll fill you in on all the gaps, anyhow.

Sounds the same as the iPhone multiplayer AC game. Which was also surprisingly fun. I'm sure it's a lot better in 3D, though.

I mean no offense, but the multiplayer portion seems to be a bit... above the mental capacity and endurance of the average player. Hide-and-seek seems much more daunting a task and requiring of patience than point-and-shoot. I find it exciting and rewarding - I'm not sure halofan420 will feel the same. I'm interested how big the community will grow, and how long it will stay.

As one who played this at PAX and dominated every round I was in, you are right to fear idiots. A majority of players seem to think they are playing computers instead of other players. They will kill someone in the middle of a field, and then walk two feet over and try and hide in a group. Any human player will catch the assassination and have no trouble seeing you (barely) hide. I found that assassinating, then using the super speed to run to the other side of the map so no eyes could follow me, allowed me to do many no death games against what were all literally newbies.

A competent player facing other competent players is when the true fun begins. Nothing like shooting someone in the face as the chase their victim they mistakenly alerted to their presence.

@Sponge I think, with time, those players will go away. Eventually, both your progression through the levels and the departure of players who can't meet the basic cerebral requirements of the multiplayer will combine to act as a "filter." If you stick with it, in time I'm convinced you'll only be playing against players around your skill level.

Looks great! I've been finishing up AC2 after a long break from the game (a break I regret, I assure you), and I'm happy to see Brotherhood flows so well from the end of AC2.

A few more feathers in AC2 and I'll be ready to pickup brotherhood!

Woohoo!

This series reminds me of an old saying and an old song. Fool me once (AC1), shame on me. Fool me twice (AC2) shame on me. Won't Get Fooled Again (this game).

Commence the down vote onslaught as I fully expect it. I mean, I was down voted for making fun of Dance Central, Kinect and Old Navy on Joystiq. I mean, come on!

You were downvoted because Dance Central is the best game on a terrible platform (make fun of Kinect as much as you want.)

...and Assassin's Creed II was a great game, as was this. Plus Old Navy's done nothing to you!

I thought AC2 was a good game, but I regretted jumping on it so early... when it was selling for half off within a few months.

I'll def give this game 2 months at which time it will be selling in the $30-40 range (with sales and such).

Great to see it reviewing so well. For me though, I finished AC2 and I was a bit fatigued of the setting by the end of it, and the multiplayer sounds a bit overhyped (maybe because we are all CoD'd out, thanks Activision) like we are desperate for anything thats different.

Maybe I'll pick this up if it proves to have staying power but I'll pass for now.
