I am as happy as the next guy for MvC3 but Donwloadable characters??? And you have to pay for them...come on and i bet they will charge like 3 dollars for these digital characters....smh and the special edition doesnt seem too enticing to me I thought that they would give out moooore for the extra money.

LOL agreed but I just dont want to pay an unreasonable amount...this game is already going to shatte records when it releases....I might just buy two copies because who knows it may be another 10 years before they release another one. Gotta have a memorabilia copy.

Downloadable characters I have no problem with, but RETAIL EXCLUSIVE PREORDER DOWNLOADABLE CHARACTERS, especially for a fighting game, is where things get a bit ridiculous.

Whats the betting these characters end up upsetting the balance of the game, so you need to buy the dlc character packs to compete :/

This has gone from a day 1 buy to a "wait for the super edition" for me, fed up of games being release like they are now, in small bits. Its gonna be the death of the industry as we know it, and it will be the developers own fault.

You want to release games a little bit at a time ? Charge less for hte oriongal purchase.

@gangcar the art is by Adi Granov, one of Marvel's, and comics in general, best cover artists around. I love the anime capcom style as much as the next guy but Granov does beautiful work.

Don't get me wrong, I really like the cover art (and artist), but doesn't this cover art remind you of the NES games that had cover art that was completely different from the actual game?

I feel like there's such a disconnect, since both art styles are great, but incongruous with each other.

I think the major thing that is off about is that the Marvel characters look FANTASTIC, but the Capcom characters look... disproportioned and really, really awkward. Look at Amaterasu, Morrigan, or Veiwtiful Joe for example.

Ah, you're right, that is Adi Granov. I used to collect Marvel cards in the mid-nineties during their hyper-realistic phase (i.e. Marvel Masterpieces, Fleer Ultra) and my first thought upon seeing the boxart was that Julie Bell was back to doing Marvel again.

Have to agree with you on the cover, and the game's art style in general. I loved the bright bold colors of comic books in the 90s. Think Jim Lee X-Men days.

Unfortunately, they are all dark and moody now days and have none of the fun I remember, and this game seems to emulate that art style. I think it maybe has to do with how they do the coloring digitally these days... rather than a superhero outfit being colored a relatively simple red with dark patches drawn in black ink for shading (or maybe crosshatching), nowadays they can actually shade the red into different tones and it comes out looking like someone airbrushed it. Then they seem to have the ability to print much deeper blacks. The combination of these two things has sucked all the fun out of comic book art for me and now I hardly touch them.

However, the gameplay in this title looks steller and I will definitely have to pick it up. I just wish they hadn't gone with such a contemporary style... but I understand why they did. Someone out there must like it.

I never buy special editions, but I'm really considering it for this one.

MVC2 on the DC was at the time, and still is the greatest fighter on the market.

This game really needs Dr Strange. Seriously. Dormammu without Strange is like PB without chocolate. It's fine and all, but would be sweeter together.

I'm sorry, Adi Granov or not, the box looks generic. Not nearly dynamic as the previous titles. MvC 1 had profile pictures of most of the characters giving tension to it. MvC2 (Depending on the release) had Just a SHEER NUMBER OF CHARACTERS ON IT. If they wanted something Drew Struzan-ish they shouldn't have gone with a basic black background. Honestly it doesn't want to make me be taken for a ride.

My only reservation is I don't care for buying 3-4 difference versions of the same game. And I mean just on one platform. It's Capcom's M.O. There is currently Street Fighter IV, Super Street Fighter IV, and the soon to be release Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition (it will hit home eventually).

Then there are other games like Resident Evil 5. Isn't there 2 version on the Xbox and 3 on the PS3?

Anyway, this just means I will not be picking this game up. I'll get it when the Super Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 Ultimate WTF Pwnage Tounament Edition gets released.

I'll be honest, I was really excited for this game and couldn't wait for it to come out, but that excitement has really worn off with a lot of the characters that have been announced and or NOT announced. Of course that could change if they do end up being in the final game, but for this to be a day one or even a purchase within the first week is definitely going to depend on what the final roster looks like for me.

Either way I'm still going to get it though, it just comes down to if I get it brand new right away or wait a few months and then probably just get it used? I definitely don't believe that "rumored" list that was supposedly released/leaked, but if that really is the final roster then I'll for sure be waiting awhile till I get it or till there's other characters added via DLC (and depending how much they charge for each character via DLC.)

Most of the one's that I've been waiting and kind of expected to be in it are Ken, Guile, Akuma, Zangief, Cyclops, Storm, Rogue, VENOM or Carnage, Magneto, and a whole bunch of others I can't think of off the top of my head right now. They really should have kept most of the MvsC2 roster and got rid of the characters that were never used or that sucked and then added more from there. There's also a bunch that really could have been left out from the one's they've introduced so far as well. For example the stupid Okami dog, I know there may be some fans of it, but I really don't feel like playing as or even against a freaken dog. It's like how they added stupid animals in Tekken, it's just annoying. Even "Frank West", I know he's in that CvsT game, but he just doesn't really seem all that special or anything, however I'd prefer him over the stupid Okami dog that's for sure....

Again that's just how I feel, I'll still get it though, just depends how soon or long I wait to get it. Here's to hoping there's still a whole lot more that still needs to be introduced and or added to the list and hopefully there's some more characters from MvsC2 as well along with new ones as well (as long as they're not something stupid like a dog or other weird ass animal characters.)
