You know, come to think of it, Dragon's Lair's isn't on Xbox Live Arcade, either. So, it's got to show up there eventually, and then, of course, there's our Oral-B electric toothbrush ... and then ... well, we can all probably just keep on living our lives at that point.
Dragon's Lair now awkwardly leaping to PSN

Well, that's it then. That's everything, right? Like, Dragon's Lair is on every single technology platform known to man except for the PlayStation Network? And now, this oversight will be corrected, according to a trailer (which you can watch after the jump) that appeared in the latest PlayStation Store update. Yes, Don Bluth's almost-30-year-old animated classic will arrive on the PSN in that crisp, crisp 1080p resolution -- though no pricing or release date information has been revealed.

Isn't there a Dragon's Lair Blu-Ray version where you just play it on whatever player you put it in? I remember that being announced a few years ago.

I've seen it, as well as the HD-DVD version.

@Jovrick Why yes, yes it is. Both Dragon's Lair and Time Warp - even Space Ace are out on Blu-ray.
No idea why you would want to have this on your hard drive. But then again, I cannot fathom why Prince of Persia HD is download only in the US and on Blu-ray in Europe.

@Jovrick I picked it up, but it was like $40, so I presume this will be cheaper. It does have a directors commentary and all sorts of interviews ...

Every single version of Dragon's Lair except the NES, Game Boy Color, and Dragon's Lair 3D versions is the "quick time movie" type.
That's the point. It's a FMV game.

I don't know WHICH FMV version it was, since it came in a box with 17 OTHER CD based games. All I know was that it wouldn't accept any input device we tried to put in.

Never mind. There is a Dragon's Lair Blu ray. And an HD DVD. And you can get Dragon's Lair 2 on Blu Ray. Also Space Ace. The best part is these seem to have a mode where you don't actually have to play the game.

Not really awkward. Dragon's Lair is required to appear on every platform BY LAW.

You have earned a trophy: "Beat Dragon's Lair blindfolded."
I've been playing this game since the '80s, so that trophy will be no problem!

I'd love to see a return of the classic FMV games. Classics like Mad Dog McCree, Mad Dog 2, Night Trap, Sewer Shark, Double Switch, and Ground Zero: Texas.

To this day I still want the 3DO version of Sewer Shark. It's much clearer, and much better.
It's also rare as hell.
Speaking of 3DO and rare as hell, Mad Dog McGree for the 3DO is a pain in the ass without the lighgun, which I never found.

I was just in france, and they had a special 'Video Game' exhibit at one of the museums. they had sega's Time Traveler up and running, which is a holographic laser disc game i remember from WAY back when. It wasn't very good then, either -- i mean, don't get me wrong, it's awesome in it's own way, but very hard, and a quarter eater. Thankfully it was free at the exhibit.

I already picked up the dvd, but never cracked it open except to see how it looked...
I hear the timing is off for the old timers who are experts on this game...so i wonder if it'll be re-mastered for the PSN release (probably not). I don't care either way since it'll be a trial and error game for me that's still fresh and new.
I hope the other ones do come out like Space Ace...and...wasn't there some ones from Japan too?

I think the one I'm thinking about used Lupin (from the Japanese manga and anime series). At the time when I was younger, I didn't know who that character was.

@kentuckyfried - You're thinking of Stern's "Cliff Hanger".
It was basically "The Castle Of Cagliostro" turned into a video game. They changed the name because practically no one in the US knew who Lupin III even was, in 1983.

If you own a Wii you can get the games on one disc.
No HD and no trophies, but still a good deal.

Thing is, I don't think I've ever played a version of Dragon's Lair that compares to the original video game, although each version certainly offers nostalgia and there are versions which simply allow you to watch it as a movie. The problem always seems to be the timing. It never seems right on the translations. And some translations are missing certain scenes, which is odd.
There were a number of Laserdisc games back in the day. It's too bad they all don't get re-released on the newer systems.

i remember even the arcade game having wonky timing. I remember some instances were you had to do a count on when to hit the button because visual/situational ques didn't match up. I think that Dragon's Lair games come with an inherent learning curve whatever the format. I forgot that the collection was on the Wii. I'd like crisper graphics and trophies but you can't beat the price of the Wii disc. I'll be picking this up and re-learning/dying again.
