Costume Quest dons DLC this December with 'Grubbins on Ice'
31
Double Fine's earnest candy collection adventure, Costume Quest, is set to receive a new downloadable add-on in December for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Gamespot has the first word on "Grubbins on Ice," which sees the soon-to-be-rotund rascals entering Repugia, the snow-dusted realm of the Grubbins. Though the turn-based combat remains the same, Grubbins on Ice will introduce new costumes and patterns, along with several enhancements for the original game.
An accompanying patch will address Costume Quest's save system (you'll now be able to save at phone posts within the neighborhood) and allow you to pause during cutscenes. Grubbins on Ice will also adjust the speed of the dialogue textsoyoucanfinishreadi-

@djiaodsf I'm usually against spam, but $35 HOES? It's like Black Friday on Craigslist.

this was a fun little... diversion. i wish it had been bigger with a little more depth. i'm gonna have to sit on the fence about this DLC; wait and see what others have to say about it before copping up the bucks.

Well damn I deleted my game after I beat everything and found everything. Hope this doesn't care about a save file :). I never expected dlc.

I never understood why everyone was complaining about the text speed being too fast. If I had to complain about the text speed I'd say it wasn't fast enough.
Either there's some difference between version (like Xbox/PS3 or EU/NA) or...

Not everyone reads at the same page/min, eh?
I'm an extremely slow reader and I found it to be just right.. unless I was distracted by roommates or my dog or whatever the heck happened. Then I would miss the last few words of the dialogue.

All of this should have been in the original, short game.

Ha! I actually just finished this last night. It was a great game.
The patch seems to address my few small issues.

The only game on my Xbox to be played by me (40 male), my wife (37 female), two sons (14 & 6), and a daughter (11 female).
Well worth every single penny I spent on it. And I will buy the DLC for certain.

YESS!!!!!! Costume Quest is in my top 5 games of 2010, and I can't wait to sink my teeth into this add-on! For anyone who didn't partake, I highly recommend it!
I didn't run across any of the aforementioned issues, but I do wish the soundtrack and foley effects had been encoded in a slightly higher quality. Use 16-bit FLAC for this add-on, please :) My only other complaint was the lack of a platinum trophy, given the price point on PSN, but they're unlikely to shoehorn that into the add-on.
I hope they do another add-on for Easter!

I love Costume Quest, but I don't know about playing a Halloween game in December. Unless this DLC has a Christmas feel to it. It sounds like it might.

Fantastic game. One of the best of the year and probably the best RPG on XBLA.
But I won't get this DLC.
While Costume Quest had zero replay value, it did have a perfectly paced adventure with a battle system that didn't drag on or outlast its welcome.
But when I finished the game I found that, even though I enjoyed the game (immensely!), if I it had been any longer I would have gotten sick of it.
Maybe if, a few years from now, I feel like I want to replay the game, I'll just buy the DLC and enjoy it just as much. But this DLC won't add anything to the experience for me right now.

They should probably make this free. While Costume Quest is kinda fun to play, I think the $15 price is too high a barrier for many people. If they make this free it will give the game a second chance at marketing and the $15 will justify itself due to the additional content.

I adored Costume Quest; even found it to be one of the most charming things I've played this entire generation (or last). Needless to say, I have nothing but love for the game. However, I also feel that this DLC is going to have to be on the "dirt cheap" side because $15 for the original already felt a little steep.

I want this game, badly. But I can't justify $15. Plus I feel as, if more & more people buy Arcade games at $15, that'll become the new standard price as opposed to the $10 it was. Which I blame Activision for, for their $15 map packs. (Not the same thing, I know, but I always blame Acti for everything.) I'm gonna be waiting for Deal of the Week on this. And I hope it comes really, really soon.
