It's been going extremely slowly lately, but it still does what it's supposed to. I'm going to guess most of the double/triple posting is people who let it finish (or even cancel it early) then try to post again when they don't immediately see their reply show up.

People, please! Click submit once, wait, and it should post. It might take a minute for it to do anything or even show up, but once you've hit submit it should send your comment through.

Oh I noticed it being slow earlier on, when I commented on that Portal 2 article, but it didn't double post then. I only ever clicked submit once and didn't stop it and still got the double post :S

Switch to Disqus already Joystiq! (Actually, don't. I'll miss highlighted blue posts and people getting downranked too much!)

I miss the Joystiq commenting system when posting comments on some of the other sites i frequent.

Threaded comments with highlighting/fading tied to up/down-ranking just makes so much sense.

Oh gawd that elastic band. That thing will break like an overstretched rubber band in a month.

That said I've been using EA Sports Active and still playing 2 for the Wii. No need to queue for machines at the gym, or get hit by someone in the overcramped kickboxing class.

Glad to see this getting a good review, I wanted to try this out, but I wanted to wait until I saw reviews. I enjoyed the first one, but I moved out to college and my Wii stayed home, but I do have an Xbox that I can use this with.

I have the 360/Kinect version and have a couple of comments...

This exercise program contasts greatly with Your Shape Fitness Evovled, which came out a few weeks ago. Active 2 seems a little more well thought out and structured. The workout seems more intense, and there's stretching involved.

The heart monitor is a nice touch, and works wirelessly with the 360.

There's a couple of options when starting out and you choose a trainer. One trainer says she has a Yoga background, and apparently if you choose her, she offers a 3 week course. I selected the trainer with the 9 week option. You can also choose from Easy/Medium/Hard after you select your workout plan. The program sets up a schedule of days to work out and how much time is involved in the workouts.

On the whole, the exercises were fun, albiet tiring once you get 15 minutes in. The one part that intially threw me for a loop, was when I was asked to start using the band, and opened it up, and realized it was in pieces, and there was zero documentation on how to put it together. The program never mentioned putting the band together, the container for the band doesn't mention it, and the brief docs in the package didn't say anything about assembling the band. I ended up using the picture on the box it came in to figure it out. Shame on EA for this oversight-- unless I missed it somewhere.

My other quip would be when I came to the portion where you're peforming floor exercises. Kinect could NOT see me on the floor. I was asked to perform push-ups and stretches, NONE of which registered. I ended up having to skip those portions of the workout just to proceed, only to be advised that I should try harder next time. Great. This problem stems from me just barely having enough room to operate Kinect, which has worked for Kinect Sports, Your Shape, Kinect Adventures, Kinectimals, and Dance Central. Active 2 was the first game where Kinect couldn't see me, but only when I got on the ground.

Overall I'm happy with Active 2 and will certainly try to stick with the regimen. I may have to re-think my Kinect camera placement to see if I can achieve the floor exercises

@Starcade I've heard that EASA2 is more sensitive to low light. You might change the lighting in your room. Hopefully they can patch this issue. Enjoyed the comments, I have the box but haven't opened it yet.

@Starcade Maybe your set up doesn't allow it, but did you try putting the Kinect Senor at about 7-8 feet high and aiming it downward? It seems that's how everyone gets the Kinect to register head to foot with no prob.

@Starcade My 360 is in a spare bedroom in a computer desk, and I share a display between my PC and 360. I positioned my Kinect camera above my monitor, and it sits on a shelf, so it's fairly high, probably at least 6 feet off the ground. The biggest obstacle I have is the depth of my room. I literally have to be almost against the back wall for optimal Kinect use, which is fine for most games. I've played games where it's registering foot movements, but I'm wondering if it's estrapolating my foot movement based on my body position instead of actually reading my foot movement. This weekend I'm going to experiment with raising/lowering or repositioning the Kinect camera to see if it makes any difference. Oh, and I've considered the lighting. I'm actually standing almost next to a tall floor lamp as I play and I have a light on near the monitor as well. If anything, I may have too much lighting in the room, but I'll experiment with that as well.

@Starcade I wrote an extensive review of the Kinect version on Amazon which mentions some pof the points you mentioned. (see http://goo.gl/awCIC)

As for your point that the game is not registering when you're doing floor exercises, I have found that if I 1st start the exercise from the standing position and then move onto the floor, then the game registers those exercises properly.

Overall I think the game needs more polish and may have been rushed to market. It may not be worth $99 in its current unpolished form; however, it gives you a good workout and may be the best workout game currently on the market for the Kinect.

If it goes under $50-60, I'll consider buying it, but at it's current price it is a bit more than just a pretty penny. These are all exercises you can get off a DVD or book, and while motion sensing and getting to see a virtual avatar of yourself on the screen is fine, it doesn't warrant $100. Motion sensing games for the PS3, for example, retail at $40, so it is hardly worth the extra $60, whatever shiny peripherals (a heart-rate monitor, really?) it includes. It's no wonder there aren't any reviews of the game on Metacritic.

EA Sports Active and its expansion were the best workout games on the Wii. I have both of them and use them regularly, and they are very effective.

I am sure this one is just as good, but sucks that it costs so damn much. I will get it for sure, but will wait for a price drop.
