Lego Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game sets sail May 2011
38
Disney may have sunk Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned, but the franchise will still hit the high seas of retail next spring with Lego Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game in May. The latest adaptation to be built on TT Games' Lego foundation will launch on all major consoles, portable game systems and PC, right alongside the upcoming film, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
In the game, swashbuckling blockhead Jack Sparrow and, err, 70 other playable characters relive events from the first three movies (The Curse of the Black Pearl, Dead Man's Chest and At World's End), along with moments from the fourth. If you're still clicking with this miniaturized take on popular franchises, you'll be able to speed the wait along with Lego Star Wars 3: The Clone Wars, due next February.

Quit pretending to be a pirate. There's propane that needs to be sold.

Great! Another game that is totally different from the rest of them! Keep em coming TT! These games are so unique and fresh after about 7 of the same game with different skins!

The Lego games add at least as much as the CoD games have. Look at Harry Potter with it's spell selection wheel and so forth or the new Clone Wars games with absolutely hundreds of enemies on screen at a time and new mechanics like lightsaber cutting.
Complaining about this but defending CoD is completely ridiculous. Yes, they all follow the same basic formula but they've always added enough new features and the different settings set them apart from each other far more than most games series'.

@EDay I never mentioned any other game series, I'm just saying here's another example of milking a property. Dont understand why I got downvoted and you got upvoted when we both pointed out the truth

yeah, i am with cole but being less sarcastic.
They are overdoing this thing, unless they really, REALLY mix things up with this one.
I think the only thing they could do to make this good is build in a mimic of Sid Meier's Pirates into it. So you can either pursue the main quest or just screw around the Caribbean. even something as simple as the piracy "mini game" in sly cooper 3, which was surprisingly fun.
Like maybe you fight ship to ship just like in meier's game, and then when the ships crash together, you fence with the captain, but it gives you alot more freedom to move around and out maneuver the guy. now THAT could be pretty sweet.
But no, they will probably do exactly what they did with indiana jones.
Frankly, i think the series peaked with star wars. and its a good enough game that i still give it out to people as standard go-to gifts, but barring something really innovative, i am taking a pass with this one.

Keira Knightley will be perfectly represented. Legos are flat chested too.

It will also represent all their acting abilities, flat and boring, just like Lego games.

I'd rather have LEGO Toy Story.
That series is now a trilogy, which means it's perfect bait for LEGO Videogame-dom. Plus they can flesh out the 70+ character roster with cameos from other Pixar films, since the whole of Disney has a partnership with LEGO.
LEGO Prince of Persia is probably next though, unfortunately.

I believe I read or heard somewhere that Lego will only work with franchises that are "Family friendly" so we will probably never see a Lego LOTR or Lego Matrix

I don't think Lord of the Rings is any less "family friendly" than Star Wars and that's their go-to Lego game. LotR might be a little more graphic than SW at some points, but overall I think it's very doable. Especially once they Lego-ize it.

So weird! MegaBloks had the Pirates license for all three original movies, in fact my son has the Black Pearl and a couple of smaller ships. Not as great quality as Lego but still cool. Now I check their site and all POTC product info is gone.
Lego must have swooped in and grabbed the license and now will reissue toys for all the movies so the game makes sense? Wierd....

Whoa there, Captain. Sounds like you some "Ma-Ti Time".
Disney doesn't want to confuse the hopefuls out there for a 4th movie that it will be staring all 40 characters of the franchise in Lego form.

They're making another movie? FINALLY!
As for the game, I'm getting tired of all these movie franchises redone in LEGO. Can't things just don't be as they are?

These are my guilty pleasure. I'm glad coop mode actually works better now on the lego games. It would be nice for online but isn't a must.
