Sub-Zero's ice-cold combos revealed in latest Mortal Kombat trailer
47
In this new Mortal Kombat trailer, we get a glimpse at Sub-Zero's fall-back career: juggling. We have a feeling he'd be at home on a stage somewhere, tossing chainsaws around -- if the Lin Kuei didn't have such an amazing dental plan, he probably would've given up assassinating a long time ago.

The story looked like a cliché soap opera.
But the gameplay looked amazing!

@Brook Stor...y? What is this word you speak of...?
Of course it's cliche and silly, it's just an excuse to make Dude A fight Dude B. NO fighting game has a good story because there is no way to tell a gripping story when every character is there to fight every other character. It's all just window dressing, really.

Realistically this is the actual back story of Subzero turned Noob Saibot and the younger Subzero taking his place so I find it pretty awesome.
Continuity ftw!

I'm loving the return of the classic stages. This seems like a full on reboot of the series though...

wow, that gameplay was pretty impressive. i've never been a huge mortal kombat fan, but if the gameplay looks this great and proves to be as smooth as it looks, i might get it

This doesn't really look that much different from MK vs DC, still the same stiff animation, still the same corny dialogue, still the same pre-set combos (though it did look like they're a bit longer with more variation this time).
I want a MK comeback just as much as the next guy, but so far it looks like they're just redoing a lot of what they've already done.

@WiredKnight - I'm sorry but this does NOT look like MK vs DC graphics or animation. Luckily the game is not due for awhile still and I'm sure it will be a lot more fluid, faster, or whatever by the time it get's "gold" and is finalized. There has been much better videos showcasing the gameplay, while this one was pretty good, it looked a little slowed down a tad maybe to show the moves a little better?
Plus, this is already a franchise, so of course it's going to be about the same as the others. It's a fighting game with blood, fatalities, gore, combo's, special moves, some story for each character, and mostly the same characters from the previous games. That's what ALL the MK's have been. If you were expecting something different then it sucks to be you and your expectations. In which I'd hate to be you and your take on sequels and or already established franchises and series because you probably expect something totally different than the previous game and get all sad when it's about the same as the previous entries with new stuff....
Although, thankfully I'm not you and I'm more than looking forward to this game and it being brought back to its roots. Only thing I kind of hope for is some new character or characters, but if there's not I'm still fine with it as this still looks more like a remake of the first, second, and third game and then they'll maybe add some newer people (that make much more sense than some of the ones they added in the previous trilogy before MK vs DC). I'm just glad they didn't stay on the T rated trend just to get more sells like most movie companies these days are trying to get everything rated PG13 or lower just to get more ticket sales.
Heck, I'm sure most of the people that get this game are probably going to be people well into their late 20's and early 30's like myself that grew up on Mortal Kombat.

I dont know what video you just watched but the one I saw was actually nice. I am NOT a MK fan at all. I tolerated MKII but that was about it. The rest bored me quickly..BUT..Even I was impressed by the fluidity of 95% (minus that horrid cut scene) of the gameplay. The movement looked well mapped to a human and the graphics were crisp.
Overall looks for those of you who are MK fans this is gonna be a great reboot for you. Looks like they finally are getting it done right.

So is this in the style of Shaolin Monks ( I think thats what it's called) or the arcade fighter titles?
Posted: Nov 21st 2010 10:12PM xxZOMBIExx said
@Bumper - This is not like the Shoalin Monks game. This is just like all their other games. Just a 1 vs 1 fighting game, but it looks like it has some kind of "tag" type mode to make it a 2 vs 2 as well, but it's just going to be a basic fighting game much like Street Fighter 4. Each character will have their own story as to why their in the tournament as well as each their own ending for whomever you beat it with.

Speaking of Shaolin Monks, I've been hoping since then they'd do an arena fighter like a full game version of the versus mode in SM.

I assume it was the video, but the frame rate was really, really choppy.
Anyway, looks like a lot of fun. Still the same old ridiculously cheeseball acting/writing. Gotta love it.

When are they going to stop making this game, these games have been terrible for years. There is no hope for this franchise anymore.

yes i watched the vid, and just cause it looks good doesn't mean it will be. Most of the MK games look great but were crap!!! They haven't had a good MK game since MK3 this series is as washed up as the tekken series.

Looks like they brought back the ability to freeze with a punch occasionally instead of the Ice Shot. I have a feeling people will spam SubZero online a whole lot lol. Unless of course they bring back Noob-Saibot, then the online will be forever ran by nubs 'maining' either of the two all day.
