We know we're entering that time of year where you're not technically supposed to buy games for yourself but, rather, for your fellow man. Still, the upcoming wave of Amazon Lightning Deals is making it hard for us to not treat ourselves to a few discounted gems. In fact, Amazon's made it all the more difficult by accidentally revealing the identities and prices of all the offers therein, those monsters:

Time to get civ 5 you say?! I agree! :)
the rest are pretty average deals.
I wonder who is getting the Dsi XL now that the 3DS is coming next year.

The DS will still sell even though the 3DS is coming out. Sometimes people forget that not everyone can afford brand new systems at launch prices or maybe they just don't want a 3DS and simply want to do a bit of casual gaming every once in a while. For example, I have a DS Lite and definitely want to get the 3DS, but my wife wants her own DS to play on. She loves stuff like Brain Age, Crosswords DS, the Picross series, Tetris, etc. I'm going to get her a DSi XL because she'll like having a bigger screen and it's coming down in price. Heck, the PS2 is still selling well for it's age!

@Jack Kevorkian Yeah, they really outdid themselves on that one. Mind you, where I live, Vanquish is still $59.99-$64.99.

@Milf Biggenson Pricey. Actually it's 58 on amazon pre sale. My info was from the weekend where it was 50.
I've been stalking a cheaper vanquish.

That sale on Civ 5 is pretty pointless, because every self-respecting pc gamer already has it, right?

As much as I love Amazon I think I will wait for this one to go on sale at Steam (or the new deal crazy Games for Windows). Unless someone can tell me if you have to have the disc in to play Civ 5. That's my big hang up.

I want Vanquish, but that price just doesn't do it for me.
Part of me has a deep, unshakable need to play Alpha Protocol, as well, but given all I've read about the game that price doesn't do it, either.
Maybe a Steam sale will let me have AP for really cheap soon. The holidays approach, after all.

@Rallion Seriously, don't let people deter you away from Alpha Protocol. I literally played it a week or two past the launch date.... And it was great. Really, it was. There really was nothing wrong with it at all. It was fun, had a great story... Your choices made altered a large portion of the game (and a sequel if it had sold well. :'[ ) The only problem is that there isn't much replay value, but it is a 10-14ish hour game and is well worth $30 in my opinion.

Vanquish is an awesome, fast paced game with great replay value.
For those not sold I have to say one thing to you: one of the basic moves is a power slide... powered by rockets in your battle suit.

Hell yeah; I was thinking about my second playthrough halfway through the second level.
It's the type of game where you can get through it the first time just learning and trying to stay alive then go back to see just how high you can get your score or if you missed anything. Very old school in that way.

When I saw the hint earlier today for a RPG/Shooter, I knew it must be Alpha Protocol. But I was really surprised to see that Amazon is trying to unload all that excess stock for $30! That's not even really trying...

About 30 minutes ago Amazon had Black Wiis selling for £50 (normal £130). It sold out in less than 5 minutes in the UK.
