Atlus bringing DS RPG Radiant Historia to North America in Feb.

Radiant Historia, an original DS role-playing game from Atlus, came out in Japan at the beginning of this month. Atlus USA has revealed that the usually agonizing wait for localization will be shorter than expected, as it plans to release Radiant Historia in North America this February.

In Radiant Historia, "Special Intelligence Agent Stocke" uses a magical book to travel backwards and forwards through time to alter history for the better. So, it's like a fantasy Quantum Leap! Mechanically, Historia uses a grid-based battle system that allows you to move enemies around on the field to help set up combos.

It's not an Atlus DS release without "Spoils," and according to the publisher this one will include a soundtrack CD featuring piano arrangements of Yoko Shimomura's compositions from the game.

Hm. I'll bite. Premise sounds fun, my DS hasn't been doin' much lately, and after Kingdom hearts BbS my PSP will go into another 6+ month slumber until Dissidia 012 is released. Hello portable love!

The only connection I can see with Time Hollow and this is time travel, and that's been done awesomely a number of times on the DS.

Is it just me or does the girl near the bottom right next to the guy in red making the same expression as dead space girl?

Cool- Atlus usually doesn't disappoint me.

Atlus puts out solid releases with a great attention to detail. I look forward to this.

Ugh. No thanks. Those characters look WAAAAY too old for me. I won't believe any protagonist older than 5.

And on that note, seriously, Japan. It's OK to have adults do things once in a while. Not everyone over 15 is a washed up veteran, bemoaning the wrong decisions they made when they were at their peak (10).

I dunno man, the main guy looks like he has a beard. While I share the same sentiment, I'm getting more of a Basch vibe from him. As much as I hated FFXII's characters, I was completely blown away by the step in the right direction that was Basch.

Aw... I thought this was like a Radiata Stories sequel... alas. Oh well. Chrono Trigger implications will force me to buy it, I'm sure.

Sounds like it could be Hoshigami-esque.

Every game with a decent soundtrack needs to release with a simple soundtrack cd (or soundtrack folder on the game disc, where possible).

The concept of time and dimension travel in this game sounds pretty cool, and in a way is kind of the next-best-thing to the long-elusive Chrono 3. However, the rest of this game - story, gameplay mechanics, etc. - doesn't look exceptionally appealing to me. Not bad, just not "I will totally spend $35 on that" good. Dunno about this one.

Yoko is the best composer for video game music.

Hopefully, this soundtrack CD will be compatible with actual CD players.

Looks interesting! Haven't played an RPG on the DS in a while... like since that Suikoden one that came out for it. I miss RPG's with 2D sprites :(
