Sold, because Sqaure Enix developed it?
What is this, 2003?

The only great games they've made this gen are the ones they've outsourced. Their piss poor performance has shrunk the JRPG industry into a niche market.

Are you some kind of sadist or something?

Did you not see you can play as a black mage? I didn't even need to read "square-enix" to know I'm getting it, but thats the icing on the cake.

Sorry, nothing against you personally, bro.

Just frustrated that Square Enix have gone from world class developer for the last six generations and then all of a sudden not producing a single highly acclaimed title (except on handhelds) this gen.

But I suppose they are keeping up with their handheld releases, I guess.

FF XII? You may not have liked it, but it wasn't bad. I mean, whether or not you enjoy FF13 it's easy to see how it could still be better/more complete. FF12 on the other hand was complete and tried (with some success) to mix things up a bit. (Yes I realize it's not from "this gen" but you also stated they've sucked since 2003.)

KHII, if you want to count it.

They helped get Batman: Arkham Asylum out. There's the new Lara Croft game. There's Just Cause 2, which is at least a fun sandbox game. I've heard good things about the latest Front Mission game. FFCC: The Crystal Bearers. Infinite Undiscovery, though it starts off extremely slowly. There's Star Ocean: The Last Hope.

Well, I don't exactly count Batman or JC2, as that's more Eidos than Square Enix (and yes, I know they bought Eidos).

And FFXII and KHII were last gen games, but as you mentioned very highly acclaimed.

And the others you mentioned, while not bad, weren't highly acclaimed.

Actually with the exception of Infinite Undiscovery, the others I mentioned got great ratings (30-34 in Famitsu), but just weren't as high profile as KH or the mainline FF series.

They've made a few of bad games (Nier, Kane & Lynch, The Last Remnant), but they've certainly made more good games than bad this generation I think. The only games they've really mucked up would be FF13 and perhaps a few of their smaller RPGs (which, while not bad, aren't always amazing either).

Now that Nintendo and Square Enix are playing nicely again, and letting Square Enix develop Mario games, how about Square Enix develop a true sequel to Super Mario RPG?

I mean, seriously, the Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi RPGs were good, but none held a candle to the original Square-developed Super Mario RPG.

Ok, I have to ask this, and it may sound stupid, but why are the words "NEW!" and "Mii" in english? I see this kind of thing all over the place but I don't get it. I understand when it's a brand name or something but "NEW"? Do they not have a word for new?

@Cdy2007 Of course they have a word for new (atarashii).
I think it's because of the fact that "New" is sortof like a well-known thing, and it stands out, and it the context of the game, it makes sense.

With the Mii, I'm guessing that's because it's a trademark and probably makes it distinct from the others who are actually game characters.

@Cdy2007 The Japanese use a fair amount of English words, I think primarily because it sounds cool to them. You can hear it pretty often in a lot of anime.

You may find this TV Tropes article an interesting read:

The Japanese know a helluva lot of english, really, even if you just go by what you see in untranslated games and anime and such

Your average Japanese knows 4 alphabets and can at least pick out words from three languages (given that so many of the Kanji entail their alternate and originally Chinese pronunciations). Quite impressive for a culture often branded as xenophobic

A FF on a Nintendo system might need actual gameplay or something.

A North American release "sometime" in 2011?

You mean like how Pikmin 2 for the Wii was announced "sometime" but never released in the states?

Though this one will probably sell far more than NPC Pikmin 2 would have, making for a stronger guarantee

A safe estimate to a point, though i'm having trouble with the yellow classification vs the green. Two levels of middleweight?

The other guess would be technique, like with Mario Tennis. That would make slightly more sense
