Rumor: Resident Evil zombie silhouettes match Spike VGA tease

Gamerzines speculates that a commercial for the upcoming Spike VGAs, which flashes "look closer" and briefly reveals the zombie silhouetted picture above, is teasing a new Resident Evil title. The site concluded this by comparing the teaser image to that of an officially licensed Resident Evil t-shirt. The shirt and teaser image feature matching zombie silhouettes.

If the teaser is for a new Resident Evil title, a potential reveal could be for Slant Six Games' rumored multiplayer Resident Evil: Raccoon City. Of course, we always prefer to be surprised.

[Update: Looks like someone had their hands in the IP cookie jar – despite an overwhelming similarity to some Resident Evil artwork, this tease was actually for Activision's upcoming Prototype 2.]

Yup, definitely convinced.

While we're all so convinced it's Resident Evil, why don't we take a look at the top left corner, there's some tally marks. 6 of them to be exact.

Yeah it could be this new Slant 6 thing, but what if it's RE6?

Being a can of the socom series and seeing what they did to that franchise's online component I wouldn't hold my breath.

I hope is the RE reboot or if is the multiplayer game, it better be like Outbreak (survivor horror and scarce of ammo/health) and not like RE4/5 with Rambo arsenal.

Exactly, Ganados/Majinis doesn't feel like RE. That's why I hope the so called reboot of the series they wanna do on RE6 is more like the earlier games.

I'm guessing...Resident Evil XBLA/PSN game. It'll be split into 3 downloadable chapters.

R.E. Was always a virus. T,G,and all those viruses. Uroboros and Las Plagas are just viruses that hid them smarter and gave them speech.

Whether RE Outbreak 2 sold bad..those games were ahead of there time on PS2 with the bad online system, but had amazing co op stuff imo. They were better suited for the next gen consoles so my bet is this may me a revival of the RE Outbreak series and may be number 3.

I think it might have to do with Left 4 Dead, 'cause on the L4D2 Steam page in the Steam Library, it has a news link to these recent rumors. Then again, that might be an error on Valve's part.

@STiger As a huge L4D fan I wish, but the image being used on another capcom shirt all but confirms that this is not L4D. It lacks Valve's recent arg finesse (Portal 2...) Not to mention half of the so called, "fans" pitched a hissy fit because Valve released a sequel on time. The infected in the picture do not really match the L4D ones either. Either way, you remind me of how badly I crave 3. I can not wait to see the new part of the country...or world explored.

There is actually 2 of the Zombie silhouettes from that RE T-Shirt in this poster. The one it already points out and the other one is the 2nd Zombie when counting them from the right to the left OR if you count them from the left to the right it's the 6th Zombie, it's just the image has been flipped from what it is on the shirt....

If that silhouette is copyrighted by Capcom then it's probably safe to say it's a new Resident Evil game or which ever company/developer that used those images are going to be in some hot water if they aren't a part of Capcom and didn't have permission to use them. If it's not copyrighted then it can be anything, but I'm fairly certain it's a new RE game, just with Zombie's in it again finally...
