Nintendo revealed this morning that US consumers gobbled up 1.5 million pieces of the company's hardware over the Black Friday week of November 21 - 27. According to internal estimates, 900,000 DS units (over the entire DS "family") and 600,000 Wiis were sold.
Nintendo released several bundles over the month to capitalize on the Nintendo faithful who seek that new hardware smell. The company launched the delicious Super Mario Bros. 25th anniversary bundles earlier in the month, followed by the pumpkin- and ooze-colored DS bundles featuring Mario Party -- a title one can promptly trade in for a discount on a better game.

Come on, man, you gotta work up to something that dumb, not just blow your wad at the first opportunity.

That's one crazy accusation to think that no one plays Nintendo products. That's like me claiming that I know you must sport a ponytail and cheesy mustache 'cause you fit the description of a one of those withering diehard's towards hardcore games. Right?

Wii isn't dying. Nintendo always sets standards for systems. saw how badass Gamecube graphics were compared to PS2 & Xbox. now Microsoft & Sony tried copying the motion control stuff. what makes you guys think Nintendo won't do something new & surprising next time

I would expect people to start saving and waiting for the 3DS, but seems I am mistaken. That's some impressive numbers of the handheld

You have to remember that the the general public probably isn't aware of the 3DS yet.

But the 3DS will play DS games, too, so it has that library.
If I didn't own a DS, I'd get one now only if I knew I wouldn't get a 3DS until this time next year at the soonest.

Deals were too good to pass up -- got Mario Red wii for 199 w/50 gift card.
Honestly I don't play enough games to see the wii as lacking games -- heck, seems that the supposed 'gamers' avoided the 'core' gaming titles so much that I got Muramasa, Sin and Punishment, Madworld and a couple other titles for less than 70 bucks total. Not to mention all the nintendo titles i've yet to lay my hands on because they hold their value so well (did get Mario Galaxy 2 at target for a discount). Really makes me wonder how much free time these guys have that they have to complain about the breadth of games available.

YES!!!! I've ket every one of my Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, Donkey kong, and other Nintendo series games since I was a kid. Now I can't get rid of them because I want my future children playing them. Yeah people like CoD games, but those multiplayer games will always be around, but there's only 1 Mario 64 or Ocarina of Time or Super Mario Sunshine.

Excellent point Muu. I just bought the Mario Wii as well. For those of us that haven't had a Wii yet, there are plenty of SPECTACULAR mario games to work through, and several deals (I got Muramasa too) on the better titles that have come for it over the years.
I only have time to really beat up 2-3 games a year... COD campaign is always one of them, but from now on Nintendo's latest will fit in just fine as well.
