A rumor inside a rumor has Yakuza and Super Monkey Ball creator Toshihiro Nagoshi working on a game called Binary Domain, which will allegedly be developed by the Yakuza team alongside western developers. Andriasang reports game development will be done in Japan, with voice work produced overseas. The title will apparently be announced officially in Famitsu this week, but so far scans of the Japanese magazine haven't surfaced. Siliconera reports the details about the game come via a Japanese message board that wrote out the specifics.
Binary Domain is reportedly a third-person shooter ... featuring robots. The game is reportedly intended to launch globally, but there's no mention of a release window. We should find out if the rumor holds up, later this week.

Sounds like the Yakuza team is riding on the coattails of Platinum's Vanquish.

This is a completely different game from Vanquish, which you would find if you read Famitsu's interview with Nagoshi. It is far more similar to Blade Runner or Captain Herlock, and incorporates a lot of decision-making characteristic I suppose of their Yakuza series. This is a completely new take on sci-fi games.

This is NOT a rumor .... the same Andriasang link you refer to cites it was revealed during a Famitsu interview. On the game itself, the concept interests me greatly... sort of like a Blade Runner-esque setting intermixed with a bit of Captain Herlock.

Sounds good, I like idea of creating a new IP developed from both eastern and western studios by teaming up with one another.
It's better than Capcom's plan, which is to butcher existing IPs with little understanding of why those particular game series became popular in the 1st place.
