The Kinect launch was pretty much dominated by one third-party publisher: Ubisoft. Despite plenty of announcements at TGS and that Star Wars game, there isn't much on the docket from the bigger third-party devs. THQ's Danny Bilson promised on Twitter earlier today that would change.
"We will be announcing one Core Kinect game soon," Bilson wrote in a missive. This followed an earlier tweet where Bilson promised a "big game announcement" at the upcoming VGAs, but it's likely he's referring to the Guillermo Del Toro game (again) and not this Kinect title. Regardless, we've followed up with THQ for comment and will let you know what we find out.

As much as I love the idea of flailing about wildly in my living room for extended periods of time, I will not be buying whatever this game is. I think I'll stick to my keyboards and joysticks instead.

Wow, so quick to judge a game that we have no information about yet.
You sound like one of the early Wii critics.

And then the later Wii critics came, which complained that they weren't moving enough and just sitting slack on a couch softly waggling the controller.
Anywho... a serious game would be fun, but if it doesn't also use the 360 pad for control, and it's not on rails, I'm finding it hard to think of what it could really be...

If made properly, Kinect has some great potential.
I hope the devs spend some time and come up with something good.
A combination of Controller + Kinect game would be so great!

An announcement for an announcement, eh? For some reason I'm still not excited...

Well you know it is going to flop because no core gamer wants to use a Kinect. Prepare for disappointment, THQ (unless it is Microsoft subsidized).

Kinect is already out, and core gamers are already using it.
So you're still wrong.

That would take the grand total of 'core Kinect games' to 1. I really don't see what people see in move and Kinect especially.

Actually that'd be about 6 that have been announced.
But I'm not counting "core" Kinect titles. I'm more focused on "fun" ones which there are already several of.

meh. personally i think kinect is more interesting. i still don't have one yet, but i like how they didn't also go the "safe" route and make something that's basically a more refined wiimote. and like the guy above me ^ said, there are core games in development like steel battalion, codename d, project draco, and those horror games announced at tgs.

I think Kinect could be great. They just need to make a controller for it.

Hahaha so basically ... everyone except Ubisoft said to themselves that they'll wait and see how sales are until they announce anything.
With 2.5 million Kinects sold in less than a month ... well not much needs to be said, the figures speak for themselves.

The only way I'm ever going to be interested in Kinect is when developers start using the controller along with Kinect and create some "hard core" games. IMO head tracking and voice recognition would be a great addition to shooters, as long as they keep the traditional controller too.
Hopefully THQ and other publishers will "get it" and not simply give us the same kind of games and experiences that I didn't want to play with the Wii when I owned one.
I'm not hopeful that we'll get anything using Kinect that I actually want to play though.

If it's "Saint's Row: Kinect", I might actually be interested.
Just imagine all the things you could do with movement to control your character...
Swagger down the street, the more you swagger, the faster you go.
Drive like in Joyride, doing drive-by's with your finger guns (is that what a "finger bang" is?)
You could have gang dance-off's and rap battles (Gang's still do dance-off's, right?)
Heck, the game could even port what you're actually wearing into the game, so if you dress with style, you'll get noticed in the game. If you dress "white", you'll get beat down. And ladies who dress like hookers, well, that'll be their role in the game!
