Inception director Christopher Nolan has been considering putting together a video game based on his mind-bending film for a while, but it looks like those plans have gone one level deeper: He now tells Entertainment Weekly that the project is a go. Nolan says he's working with a full team on the game as "a longer-term proposition" and that he's excited to "explore" the medium of gaming by creating a new story set in the world of the movie.
EW suggests an MMO, but we have a better idea (that we wouldn't mind planting in the back of Nolan's brain, if someone out there has the means to do it, wink wink): a spinning top simulator. Call us, Nolan -- we've got Dark Knight ideas, too!

What about a racer? The tagline could be, "Drive the car of your dreams on the track from your nightmares!"

There is no way that this won't suck. A TV show, on the other hand...

Actually, no. It's a game based on the world of an already-released movie, therefore not just a cash-in, therefore rushed, therefore most likely good.

Without even mentioning that Nolan's actually working with the development team, giving it much more chances of not sucking.

Absolutely correct. Nolan will not abide suck. He hasn't had a creative mis-step yet, and I trust his involvement in this project will lead to more of the same.

yeah i dunno, i'm going to have to cast my vote for suck. yes, nolan is a great director of movies, but does he even play games? does he really know what makes a videogame fun? still, i doubt that he will let them release a completely god awful piece of mess, so i'm actually going to say that this game will never see the light of day.

@Liquidfingers but as others have said.. its not being rushed. thats the number one thing.. a group of talented developers that know how to make a video game can easily make a great product based on what nolan is projecting.. hes just a creative force.. its not like the article says hes going to try to program or take over some art direction.
look up every tie-in game ever... thats usually what sucks.. now lets take a good example like goldeneye. most people dont remember that that game came out 2 years after the movie it was based on... i dont think its a coincidence that it was good.

Well if nothing else I'm glad it's not a tie in that was raced to come out the same day as the movie.

Unless Nolan himself is directing the title, this game will flop just like 90% of all movie based games

Okay, I am going to take what I said back. More like 98%.
KOTOR I and II are the best movie licensed game, ever.

KOTOR aren't movie licensed games.
At best they would be licensed from works from the Expanded Universe, They are in no way "movie licensed games" as movies do not exist for the storylines contained.
Their connection to Star Wars does not matter. They are not part of a movie tie-in. Think of it this way, 007: Nightfire is a James Bond game, but as no movies exist for that title, it isn't a movie licensed game.

well by that logic, shouldn't this inception game (and the majority of other 'movie licensed' games) be considered part of the "expanded universe" given that nolan says it will follow a "new story" that is simply "set in the world of the movie"?

This better be good. If they could do something like Rocksteady did with batman, this game will be awesome (and deep).

Agreed. Rocksteady would be a great developer for this. Or Naughty Dog if its gonna be a third person action game for obvious reasons. Both developers have excellent attention to detail in graphics, gameplay and story.

The quality of this game depends on the amount Christopher Nolan is involved.
