Fantastic! Dead Rising 2: Case West out 'next month' [Update: Trailer!]

Fans of fictional, war-covering photojournalists rejoice, for Capcom has announced that the Xbox exclusive Dead Rising 2: Case West is slated to arrive "next month." As of this writing, it's just barely still November, so it would seem Frank West will return to Dead Rising in time for Christmas. In-game photography will also be making a comeback; presumably, nabbing erotic photos should be much easier this time around.

Unfortunately, Capcom still hasn't announced a price. For now, you'll just have to settle for the new screens in the gallery below.

Update 2: Following up with Capcom, a representative informed Joystiq: "Case West will be a standalone just like Case Zero."

Following on from the success of Dead Rising 2: Case Zero, Dead Rising 2: CASE WEST will extend the zombie slaying antics of Dead Rising 2 by delivering brand new content and the return of a familiar face. Intrepid photojournalist and star of the original Dead Rising, Frank West, is back from covering wars and arrives in Fortune City to investigate Phenotrans and find proof of its involvement with the zombie outbreaks.

Set immediately after the events of Dead Rising 2 and available exclusively on Xbox LIVE, Dead Rising 2: CASE WEST sees Frank team up with Chuck Greene for some serious co-op action as the pair embarks on a brand new case set in the Phenotrans Facility on the outskirts of Fortune City.

Here Chuck and Frank will face new challenges and new enemies but will also have access to new weapons, items and the ability to create a number of new Combo weapons such as the janitor's favourite, the 'Zap & Shine' and the ominous sounding 'Reaper'. Just as in the full game, players will have the opportunity to rescue human survivors who have so far escaped the clutches of the zombie horde.

Wherever he finds himself Frank is always ready to capture the moment with his trusty camera and Dead Rising 2: CASE WEST is no exception. Frank AND Chuck are now able to take photographs of key evidence that will provide indisputable proof of Phenotrans' part in the zombie outbreaks, not just in Fortune City, but across the United States. As the story unfolds expect to see cameo appearances from other characters from Dead Rising that will provide further links to the original game.

Scheduled for release next month, Dead Rising 2: CASE WEST continues the Dead Rising 2 experience and sees the return of Frank West as he partners up with Chuck Greene to find the truth behind the Fortune City outbreak.

Available exclusively on Xbox LIVE, Dead Rising 2: CASE WEST delivers brand new and unique content as Chuck and Frank enter the sinister Phenotrans facility to uncover the pharmaceutical company's involvement in the Fortune City outbreak.

Case 0 was $5, hopefully Capcom doesn't stray too far from that model. But if Case West is a bigger game I guess I won't complain too much.

What is it with game developers that make games with gorgeous and rich environments but forget to add a "close- up or first person camera" feature into their games ?... this game is one example ... it also bothered me in Alan wake too

@solidsnake8282 The game was built around third person. As such it would naturally use smaller textures to save space and horse power because the camera will never be close enough to tell the difference. Were a first person camera added, the beauty and wonder would be lost completely.

No ps3? Laaaamesauce.....I guess ill have to get the game for xbox as well :(

Dead Rising 1 was Exclusive to the Xbox 360 (Chop To You Drop is not a port it's a completely different gameplay style)

So Capcom had to give the 360 some love while simultaneously releasing it on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3..

Is this DLC or another stand alone game like Case Zero?

I was under the impression that it was a standalone game when it was announced. I kind of hope it is since I'll probably get it if so but I can understand wanting to support the game they released at full price instead.

@Mcmax3000 That would be great if it was. Still haven't purchased DR2 and CaseZero was just enough game to keep me happy. I would totally by this Frank West episode if it was standalone.

I think I'd heard that if you don't have Dead Rising 2 for Xbox 360, you won't be able to download the game on 360. Guess Capcom lost a sale.

I doubt it considering Case 0 sold so much.
I don't think they'd be dumb enough to do that.

Offer it as a XBLA for 400-800 MSP
Then just have it read your save so if you want, you can play with all your moves and such.

If you only have case 0 let you import that and then once again let people import it back to regular game.

I mean no confirmation on any of that, but that's obviously the smart move.

Oh lawd, I wanna know what all those pretty weapon combos were and some other things.

Will Frank be able to make these? Or will Chuck have to hand them off? Perhaps there's a brief scene in which Chuck shows off his mad ductape skills.

The only two weapons I can look and verify what they are seem to be the Pulse Gun/Stun Rod and Katana/Sickle combos. No idea about that power fist thing lookin' doodad...
