Damn, read that as Shane Black for a second. That'd be a WW2 game I'd play.

Only way I see of sprucing up WWII FPS would be to have the story told from the nazi point of view.

If done right it could be amazing, It would end up with maybe the nazi realizing what he's doing is wrong or something like in Valkyrie so you end up sabotaging the nazis whle you're still within their ranks.

Or maybe have it from 2 points of view. A american or any of the allies and a nazi. You actually play as this evil nazi and then the end of the game you kill him as the good guy.

I'm sure you guys have some clever ideas as well.
Let's discuss

Or maybe you can play as a Nazi and believe what you're doing is right because you've been fed propaganda all your life? Not that realism matters in a video game, but I don't see how one guy turning on his country is going to be very successful (i.e. not getting shot in the face by the other guys on your side?).

Makes sense that actually sounds a bit cooler.

I know WWII got way over done in games, but i say if it's truly something fresh and unique why not try and make it?

Honestly people are to concentrated on modern battles that even if a new WW2 game succeed I doubt many if anyone would jump on and start making more WW2 games

or maybe everyone could wake up and realize that not all nazis were bad people and that a lot of them were merely enlisted soldiers like in any other army in the world. not all nazis were jew hating war mongrels, either.

True, I can kinda see why they haven't bothered telling the story from their side now. If you want to do it right theres a lot of different stuff to take into consideration

Pretty Much, I think criterion even said they don't want to bother making a FPS now.
It's a shame I hate seeing a developer stick with only 1 genre of game

I am tired of WWII games, why not make a game were you are a civilian and have to go to war against invaders of your country? With free roam and stuff, vehicules, etc. Just saying.

Am I the only guy who really likes the WW2 genre? Sure, they get repetitive, but thats because they aren't made to their fullest potential.

I'm not sick of them... given that I haven't played one since MOH:Frontline.

WWII is bound to remain an attractive subject for war fiction. 1) "Our side" won. 2) It's considered the least morally ambiguous war in US history (at least in the character of the leadership, as long as you overlook the fact the the dead kids were out there because they loved their country too). 3) It has better weapons than any war previous and represents a sea change in warfare unmatched since. 4) The villains had style.

A FIRST person shooter based on World War Two?! Get out of town!

I'm just sick and tired of all the real time strategy games about the Crusades and all the role-playing games based on the Cold War espionage...

O.O !!!

...Hey! I have an idea!

...Zombies!
