@SteveoftheGods Dude you are so going to love this game, by far the best money I've spent on a downloadable game this year. Not to mention you get around 12 hours worth of play time as apposed to other *cough, Limbo, cough* that only gave me 3.

Another reason PSN needs a FREE cross-chat system.

@Lord Moon

Another reason JOYSTIQ needs a REVIEW/EDIT comment system...

What the hell does in-game communication have to do with cross-game chat?

@Lord Moon

Free Cross-Chat means that u can setup a party and TALK in ANY game with ANY Friend..

So Set up a party and talk with ur coop mate.

Cross Chat is cool,

@UnnXandros

Exactly. If PSN had a cross-chat system then games that "forget" to put in some kind of communication can still be played co-op with chat.

@ichibansony

Cross-game chat is also one of the most requested features. Sony has even acknowledged that they should have it, but because it's Sony instead of offering it for everyone they are adding it to the Playstation Plus service.

Or just use Xbox Live or Skype. Problem solved.

Oh wait. Not really. I was playing it last night and used Xbox live to chat with my buddy as we played co-op.

@Lucky48

I do that all the time.

You do know that both consoles can be on at the same time?

Me and friends create a party on LIVE and then just switch the input over to the PS3.

I'm not sure why that's so hard for you to understand...

Even though me and my friend use Skype when we play this game this is great news for everyone that wanted this feature.

It amazes me that developers would possibly release an online co-op game with no voice chat in this day & age.

Well thats why Cross Chat is a good solution to this. I had this same issue with Demon's Souls, but since my PC is close to my PS3 and my friend used a laptop, gtalk solved the issue.

Or since almost everyone has an iphone or an android. Tango App (Free Videochat over Wifi -way better than the skype app-) and works cross platform.

Does it suck? Yes. But they are fixing it. The game is SUPERB

Why would you EVER release a co-op game without voice chat?!? I see no logic in this...

@Guts: Agreed.

It only took about 4 minutes with this game to realize it's not just another dual-stick shooter. Housemarque impressed me with Super Stardust, and Dead Nation is doing nothing to change that impression.

Nice work, guys! Now let's get that online chat thing sorted!

Ha I had no idea, here I've been using my 360 to chat with my friend while playing DN with him (as we always do on the PS3.)

Anyway good game, glad they're patching this in.

I still find it hilarious that after 4 years a developer still has to "include" voice chat in a game. That is honestly a HUGE failure on the part of Sony to not address something so basic as including cross-chat within the system. It's a joke really. "We have 3D and Blu-Ray, just don't try to chat with your friends if they're doing something else."

totally agree.

let's hope Sony has learned their lessons with integrating everything correctly at the SYSTEM LEVEL when PS4 rolls around.....

wouldnt logic dictate that when they delayed the game to bring us online co-op that voice chat would also be included... cuz, you know, you need to talk with the guy youre playing online with.

no dual stick shooter can ever outgun robotron. period. the game still holds up decades later.

Cool i'll probably pick it up once they add the chat feature or drop the price to 10 (which ever comes first).

Or i'll just pick it up when I finish AC Brotherhood, Fallout NV, and plat GoW 1 and 2. Too many games for such a short period of time. Q1 2011 is going to break the bank for me.

I was surprised at the lack on in-game chat in online co-op mode - how they think we're meant to co-operate without language I don't know.
