@Tradio Meanwhile those of us who waited to purchase said packs are really losing nothing. Harmonix said they would LIKE to release the back tracks with no fee for upgrades, but that is not likely to happen. For once my laziness is working in my favor!

@Tradio I can understand how it was likely the only choice.

The problem is, adding keys is not just adding a part like it is with Pro Guitar and Pro Bass. Many of the older keyboard/piano heavy songs had those parts mapped in with the guitar part, sometimes mixing between the two in one part.

They need to remove the keys parts from the guitar/bass charts, which fundamentally changes most of the parts of the song, plus they need to go back to the masters and separate the keyboard parts for the audio mixing.

For harmonies, they need to separate parts out of the solo vocal track as solo vocalists sing parts they wouldn't sing when playing harmonies with other players.

At that point, aside from the drums, you've basically got an entirely new song, hence why it's being sold as such.

That said, as someone with hundreds of Rock Band songs in their catalog, I'm not particularly thrilled about it. I bought the updated Bon Jovi songs because they're some of my favourite songs in Rock Band and I bought the full pack but I doubt I'll bother with updating these songs, especially the two that were in Lego Rock Band because they are incredibly boring to play (not necessarily saying anything negative about the songs themselves, just that they're not particularly exciting to play in Rock Band).

@Tradio

I understand more work has gone into these, but there is no way I will pay the full price again for half of the instruments.

@Tradio I should be able to take my car in, pay the difference in the parts on the new model vs. last years since they only changed a few minor things. Same for my TV, it's barely a year old. The new model only has a couple of new features, nothing major though..

you're an idiot.

@oolz Because a car and DLC songs are the exact same things, of course.

Total BS. Lesson learned, DON'T BUY ANY BACK CATALOG SONGS. They'll just offer the same songs, but with more features at the same price.

HAMMER TO FALL?

This is already better than the first Queen pack.

DAMN it. I read the titles as "Rock Band: Queen" at first glance, and the music nerd inside me squealed.

Pass, thanks. I already have all the Queen I need from my LRB import. Good news for pro-mode people and those who don't have it I suppose.

Same here.

Really a kick in the nuts.

Also, another Queen pack, still no Ogre Battle, Bicycle Race, Princes of the Universe, or Who Wants to Live Forever?

They might as well have just released Hammer to Fall as a single.

Was hoping for "The Show Must Go On" to be in this pack. *sigh* MORE IMPORTANTLY, however, is the face that we still can't delete single tracks from downloaded packs. I can't delete either LRB Queen song without deleting the ENTIRE LRB library. Same with the Queen track pack from December last year. I do not want to have doubles of songs. At least I could delete the cover of "Tom Sawyer" from RB1 by itself once I got the master track. Harmonix, if you want me to even CONSIDER double dipping, patch the game to let me do this and discount the tracks for those of us with the originals.

Sigh. Everytime more and more Queen tracks are released, it decreases the hope of a full fledged Queen RB.

@Denbowski I've been holding back on purchasing any Queen tracks because I've been hoping for such game. Maybe now I'll cave in and accept that it will never be.

When you see an announcement of Queen: Rock Band, do know that I bought these packs roughly three minutes before.

Irritating that they're releasing songs that I already own at least most of them will benefit from having the keyboard added.

This re-released DLC stuff sucks.I've already sunk a ton of money into DLC and don't plan on buying anything I already own. I'm even skectched out on buying any old DLC at this point since it might be updated for RB3. There should be some sort of discounted upgrade process to enable the new features for old DLC.

I'm glad I stuck to my guns and refused to buy Somebody to Love based on the piano-on-guitar aspect. I can safely buy that one "upgraded" song. I don't feel like I'm potentially being ripped off by there re-releases, but I DO feel like I was duped for buying them in the first place. If they go back and re-do Boston that's one thing, but with the Queen tracks they knew damn well they had KB and harmonies waiting in the wings.
