We've heard some horror stories about the arduous nature of the Xbox Live certification process, but whoa man, this is a little excessive. Do you guys remember back when they made a video game interpretation of the Ghostbusters franchise like, a hundred years ago? Well, the 360 version of that game had some niggling issues preventing users from unlocking four of the game's multiplayer Achievements -- issues that were fixed in a patch which went live earlier this week, some eighteen months after the game's initial release.
Of course, we're only assuming the certification process is to blame for the patch's late arrival. Maybe it just took that long for developer Terminal Reality to fix these problems. Or maybe Slimer was up to his old tricks, delaying the dev team with his incorporeal shenanigans.

I think that's the first patch considered to be vaporware.

I'm not sure how a MGS4 trophy patch is "vaporware" when such a thing has never been announced (as far as I know, anyway - please correct me if I'm wrong). Begging and pleading does not make anything vaporware.

I've never heard of VC getting a trophy patch, I heard the rumour that the reason VC 2 and 3 are PSP exclusive is to avoid dealing with trophies.

The pc version got shit all over.
Multiplayer stripped out in favor of the console versions. Achievements removed, and various issues that remain that have never been patched. Including a control issue that makes mouse control feel a little off since it's basically a direct port from control pad -> mouse.
The console versions have had two patches, the pc version has had NONE.

It's their way of testing how many gamers, or at least how many achievement whores, would be willing to play the game again long after its relevance.
Now then, who else do I know that owns the game...

Ironic that the achievements were multiplayer ones... I'm assuming the game's online is pretty much dead at this point.

Technically, James isn't doing this as the AVGN, and it's not listed on Cinemassacre as one of the AVGN episodes.

Ok, allow me to offer at least some apologies, as a little research dug this up:
http://ps3.ign.com/articles/101/1011874p1.html
Still, that was published in August of last year, and the game has been out for a considerable while. I'd say that's wishful thinking of something that never materialized.

HEY JOYSTIQ!!! NEXT TIME, DO A LITTLE RESEARCH BEFORE YOU POST SUCH BLATANT LIES!!!!
The patch ONLY unlocked 2 Achievements, (the universally glitched ones: "No Job Too Big" and "PayDay!") - AND Terminal added a cap. No more than 980 Gamerscore Points/48 Achievements can be obtained.
The older glitched Achievements ("On the Payroll", "Loans Paid off" and "Egon's Guinea Pig") STILL will not unlock.
You CANNOT get more than 980 Gamerscore Points/48 Achievements - which is why some people are getting "new" Achievements and some aren't.
Judging from this article, you were probably one of the many review sites that said there weren't any graphical differences between the PS3 version and the 360 when the game was first released. I don't trust your reporting anymore Joystiq.

and not from, you know, using the site's search engine to wade through the various posts on Ghostbusters, many making clear the graphical differences in the 360 and PS3 versions

They just announced an XBLA Ghostbusters game made by the same developers (I think), so maybe they figured they'd throw this out there. BTW, the Ghostbusters game is f**king awesome :)

IN FACT, Terminal Reality posted on their official forum today APOLOGIZING for the crappy patch claiming "misinformation regarding what the problems were". They stated that a NEW PATCH will be released within 2 months to correct the garbage that was released earlier this week. What horrible reporting, Joystiq.

The single player was a lot of fun, if you're a Ghostbusters fan. I really enjoyed it, but they really missed their chance at great co-op. It would've been awesome to play campaign co-op online.

I liked this game, after I got over a part I was stuck on. I got 800/1000 achieves. But I don't know if I'd go back for the other multiplayer ones.

Joystiq you hav been missinformed as it was TR fault for the delay in the patch they posted on the facebook page, there forums and twitter a few months ago that they had sent the patch to classifacation, then a month ago they updated saying the patch is now been handed over to MS for there version of QA and then release!!!!!
Posted: Dec 3rd 2010 8:14PM DarthRandal said
Why would anyone complain about a patch? Yeah, it took forever, but at least they finally tried something. It would be different if the servers for this game were getting ready to go dark, but a fix is a fix. Enjoy it.
Unless, of course, it turns out that it doesn't work...

Sales strategy--
1) Release low budget retro game that's not half bad. See some sales, save money by only giving moderate support.
2) Profit.
3) Wait until sales die off almost entirely. Release a patch fixing a bunch of issues, getting your inexpensive old game back into people's minds just in time for Christmas shopping.
4) Profit some more because lots of people bought that for their brother/kid/nephew....
Frankly I think that's pretty smart.
