While the infamous party horn adds a little something something to MJ's mixes, it probably makes it a little difficult to keep up with the dancing. Check out a brief, off-screen video of the anti-piracy horn in action posted after the jump.
Michael Jackson: The Experience DS pirates treated to 'Billie JeaoooOOONNNHHHH'

We haven't heard much about the actual quality of Michael Jackson: The Experience's DS iteration, but its anti-piracy measures are absolutely top-notch. Pirates who have downloaded ROMs of the game -- for ... some reason -- have reported that two major problems have found their way into the illicit version of the game: Many of the game's touchscreen controls are rendered non-functional, and also, oh yeah, a vuvuzela just happens to be blaring over all the songs.
While the infamous party horn adds a little something something to MJ's mixes, it probably makes it a little difficult to keep up with the dancing. Check out a brief, off-screen video of the anti-piracy horn in action posted after the jump.

But the Online Pass isn't to stop piracy.....
It's to allow the developer to still get a cut of used game sales, and I say that's more than reasonable. Especially the way DICE and Hot Pursuit are handling it, with Online Pass holders receiving free DLC - new maps, modes, skins, etc.
By the way is this by the same folks that did Elite Beat Agents?

Unfortunately this is probably true. Yes, it's a funny way to prevent piracy, but it doesn't seem all that effective.

Piracy protection isn't the ability to prevent the game from being pirated. It's the ability to DELAY the game from being pirated. Most sales of a new game come within the first few weeks/months of release. If you can create an anti-piracy technique that takes that long to break, the game will sell better than it would if you didn't.
That's why the smart companies foster company loyalty by releasing patches that remove the DRM six months to a year after the game comes out. They're pretty much made all the money they are going to by that point.

I have heard that a lot, and to be honest i thought it could work but in reality is not THAT much time that they buy, the last nds game of mario and donkey kong for example, it was very protected, in less than 3 days more than 3 patches were released, by patch # 4 the game was playable.......so as you say it helps to stop, but it stops the users who don´t have a lot of knowledge. the rest well they wait one day or two.....

So you are saying that the pirate download the game, try to play, see this and think... Oh well, didn't work, I just gonna buy the game tomorrow?
You live in a dream world.

yep, exactly what i said... whoever wants it for free will get it, no way to stop that... that´s how it has been and that´s how it´ll be, nice try from ubi but the true is what we all know. And as i always said better invest that creativity on good games instead of wasting it on protections. BTW this game looks EXACTLY like elite beat agents...well, talking about good and original games, no wonder why they decided to invest on protections instead... :P

I still believe that 99% of the people that pirate would never buy the game anyway...
And is Michael Jackson... If was Call of Duty, Gran Turismo, or any other big title, than yes, people would just buy the game.

Has anyone played this? The screenshot made me curious, so I looked it up on YouTube and I kid you not, the gameplay looks like an exact clone of Ouendan/Elite Beat Agents. The converging circles around the nodes, dragging the little ball on long notes, the spinning wheel, the character dancing on the top screen, everything!
I haven't found a single review of it though. I wonder if Ubisoft pulled another TMNT here, where the portable version of the game (in that case, on the GBA) ended up being awesome while the others were mediocre.

@Bridget Thought the same thing and kind of want it now. Where the heck is our Elite Beat sequel anyway? Wasn't that one of the DSs early breakout hits? Still one of my favorite games and I figured I would at least be playing the third version by now.

@Jack Kevorkian I don't think EBA was ever a hit, which is why it'll probably never get a sequel and why clones like this are more than welcome.

I played it and yes, it´s the same game......the only difference is that in elite beat agents you watched some crazy and funny things on the top screen, at certain points of the song... here you watch a SD version of jacko dancing.....well, more or less as it repeats the same movements, and then nothing else.... even the spinner of beat agents is there.....a very mediocre game from ubi soft once again......don´t waste your money .... no wonder why they were so interested on protections....

Hahah this is great. Anti-piracy at its best. If they really wanted to curb piracy, this would be a great step in the right direction.

Thats a great idea, i know they do this for some PC games. But if you really want to stop piracy, forget firmware updates and the like. Just make the games unplayable.
I mean, the aspect of downloading and playing free games is gone if the game is unplayable correct?

@Red Deer Yes, do this. People crapping bricks when they go to the forums and ask why they can't run/glide (Mirrors Edge and Arkham Asylum) are always good for laughs.

It would be ingenious to do things like this that the pirates woldn't notice...move a ledge so it's barely out of reach, remove a weak point on the boss, let the enemies move faster and fire twice the shots...things that aren't nearly as obvious so pirates just wonder why they suck at the game rather than knowing they need a patch. :)
