There are few people on this planet we admire more than one Mr. Neil Patrick Harris, the length of whose name is matched only by the depth of his comedic talent -- which is to say that there's a lot of it. However, we're of two minds about how to react to the announcement that NPH would be fulfilling hosting duties for the 2010 Spike VGAs, which, once again, we have been dragooned into watching and reporting on this year. (Man, this job sometimes, we swear.)
Again, we're big, big fans of Neil (who provided one of the four Spider-voices in Shattered Dimensions), and his bit during last year's VGA ceremony was one of the highlights -- but the first time he busts out some unconvincing nerd-speak, or gets danced all-up-on by models with award winners' names painted on their torsos, we're going to have a full-on panic attack. We've got all our fingers crossed that those won't occur, though leaving our fingers in that position might make it a little difficult to type snarky comments about the rest of the show. Hmmm.

@PipBoyV3 Seriously. I've only ever seen one episode, and I don't think I'm the one who should be ashamed.

He was the worst voice in Shattered Dimensions IMO. His jokes weren't even so bad they were corny like Ultimate's, they were just bad.

Its getting harder and harder for me to avoid watching the VGAs this year. I really don't like them, but with Sony's new reveal thing and Neil Patrick Harris, its a little challenging. In the end though, I'm probably gonna decide against it and just play some New Vegas or something and look up the new stuff the next day

and that's even less of a reason to watch it then lol. all i remember about it was that it was in relation to the VGAs so i assumed it would be during. oh well new vegas it is lol

How many video jokes is he going to try and force down our throats?

You think he is going to open with a musical number?

Is the VGAs really that hard to watch for you Joystiq? The announcements.previews are pretty good & the nominees are pretty fair. It's not like it's some kid show they put on TV these days. Try watching Yo Gabba Gabba for more than 5 minutes.

@Prboi Yo Gabba Gabba's awesome. If the VGA's had Mark Mothersbaugh show up I'd be up for watching it. Instead, it's going to be a rah rah macho game fest that assumes all games are shooters and all game players are dudes between the ages of 15 and 20.

I find it to be moderately fair. I still find G4's more accurate. I mean that the announcements/reveals/previews are enough to watch the VGAs. That's why I watched it last year & I will be watching it this year. Batman Arkam City, Bioware's project, the next resident evil, & plenty more that are unannounced as of yet. Are you not excited for that?

Oh man, I'd forgot about the painted torsos. Was that last year or two years ago? Last year was like, robo angels, right?

As long as you're being dragooned to report on the VGAs, how about a date and time?

Son of a bitch. Now I HAVE to watch the VGAs...

The routine for me is usually to DVR the VGA's, fast-forward through the junk, and go straight to the world premiere trailers and I'd be done in about 20 minutes. I might just have to watch a little more this year.

Though I am interested in seeing Neil Patrick Harris handle a video game award show, I just can't watch the VGA's. If they could just do them without making it so damn embarrassing to watch with a family. Honestly, Spike is awful.

What is the point of the VGAs if video games make up awards and ratings for themselves anyway...?

Is there a live stream of this going on that night?
I don't have the channel and would like to watch it now.

Are the models going to be dudes? Last I heard Neil Patrick Harris is into the sausage.

Glad to see a decent host, but a lot of the awards seem pretty self-indulgent, or a way to give a celebrity an award because they said a couple of lines in a game.
