Dead Space 2 demo due December 21

EA will launch a single-player Dead Space 2 demo on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network on Tuesday, December 21 (and Dec. 22 on the European PSN). The interactive snippet will reintroduce players to space engineer Isaac Clarke as he performs routine conduit maintenance, designs more efficient CO2 scrubbers and grudgingly does videophone tech support with his mom, who just installed Windows 14.

As Dead Space executive producer Steve Papoutsis notes, "Releasing the demo five weeks before launch will not only reconnect players with our hero Isaac Clarke, but will also give them the opportunity to experience firsthand various jaw-dropping scenarios. It's gonna be awesome."

it better be longer than the demo for the 1st game

no better way to "reconnect"" than playing thru Impossible difficulty. This is a must-buy for me so i might skip the demo, save all the suprises for the actual playthrough.

Agreed. Very excited for this game but I absolutely hate having the experience spoiled. This isn't really a game I need to "try out", pretty sure I'll love it, so probably will save my necromorph-killing wad for the main release.

YES! I cannot wait for this game to come out. I want to save all the spoilers and everything for the actual game, but it's been so long it might be near-impossible to hold off playing the demo.

Ahhh passing on 2, loved 1 but they added that stupid looking MP and I can't pay full price for it. BF2 vet is coming out the same day wonder how it will do?

You do know that the development of the single and multi player parts of the game were developed separately and as such wont really affect each others quality?

@Usr666 or you can just get the game and play the single player only? You know? Skip the MP if you don't like it. Just like me.

Get Amnesia: The Dark Descent (PC). It's by far the scariest game ever made. Apart from playing Zork with my dad when I was 7, that is. Damn Grue...

This game shouldn't be anything but perfect, with as much time they have spent on it. My expectations are too high, sadly.

@dissectional75 mine are pretty low considering that they tacked on an MP mode, said they wanted more action/less horror, and gave Isaac that effeminate suit which is a rip off of Guyver.

But I loved the hell out of the 1st game and if this game is even half as good I'll be satisfied.

Hopefully (rather, expectantly) the suits will change appearance as you upgrade them. This is likely the level 1 suit we've been seeing. Holding out for surprises! The coolest suit from the 1st game couldn't even be accessed until your second playtrough.

i remember reading/hearing somewhere (E3 maybe?) that this new suit they've been showing the whole time is optional, and you can choose to play with the suit from the first game if you prefer.

Yes. Unless you're not wearing any pants while playing this, perhaps a new chair/sofa/girlfriend.

I want to play this on the PS3 after I finished (and enjoyed a lot) the first one on the PC.
Not sure I can handle the aiming with the analogue sticks though so a demo is brilliant for this.

I was in the Multiplayer Beta, which was surprisingly addicting, even with only one Map/Mode. It's great they are having a demo, but I've already pre-ordered the collector's edition. {For my wife, it's one of her favs}

I guess I'm in the minority for liking the motion-comic and puzzle game better than the core game.

@erh almost certainly, because that was pretty terrible. For something that relies so heavily on the art, it was just awful to look at.

The first game was my favorite game this consol generation. I can't wait to play dead space 2.

i suspect this is going to be the same demo that i got to play at NYCC in Oct. it was fun as hell. however, it was weird. they had workers stand around and watch you play. basically to explain how to get past parts. there was a puzzle that had zero explanation and was a quite perplexing until the guy said, yeah do this. so i hope they fixed that. other than that the game was epic. in scale and thrills. can't wait.
