Rumor: Kratos in Mortal Kombat, exclusively on PS3

It seems that the constantly furious Kratos of God of War fame could be appearing exclusively on the PlayStation 3 version of this February's Mortal Kombat. Fighting game site Shoryuken claims the January issue of PlayStation: The Official Magazine will detail as much, though copies of the magazine have yet to arrive in readers' hands.

The Grecian rage machine will purportedly not appear in the game's story mode, but will rip apart characters in versus. Also, if the rumor is true, we're putting this out there right now: fatality featuring a stampeding Pegasus. Just sayin'! Anyway, between the issue's impending release and the nearing VGAs, we hope to hear more on Kratos' cameo soon. Who's next? Link in the Wii version -- oh, wait a minute ...

To be honest, he should become a Soul Calibar standard for PS3 versions, like Yoshimitsu was. He fits the game so well that I couldn't even be arsed with the other characters.

It's almost like you're implying Yoshimitsu is a Sony exclusive character and hasn't appeared on any of the other consoles.

Honestly, I don't think there's an Xbox-only guy that would fit in as a MK fighter. It doesn't matter who the 360 character is anyways; I'd pick up the PS3 version just to play as Kratos.

I think Clay Carmine is a great fit as he kind of looks like Sub-Zero. The reason why a Gears Of War character would be good for this game is because Gears fits in with the gritty-ness that they are trying to go for with in this MK.

@BustahWolfenstein - I don't see that happening. KI2 came out in 96, and, yes, even though Microsoft owns Rare, I highly doubt they'll include one from a - at the time of MK9's release - 16 year old game.

It'd be a nice homage and kind of WB/Microsoft hinting at Rare to get off their ass and finally make KI3, but chances of it happening? Close to 0.

As gritty as Gears is, I fail to see how a shooter character would fair off against fighting characters :/ Guns aren't allowed.

Unless Marcus is just using the chainsaw. Even then sub zero could still kill him pretty easily :)

It's been confirmed. They will most likely have a Gears of War character for the 360 version since Cliffy B was teasing it on twitter. My bet is on Clay Carmine

slamming someone head into the ground thats the most friendly thing I've seen Kratos do.

The way he brutalized Hermes and Hercules are enough to be Fatalities in themselves. Kratos is a natural fit for this game.

By god, I will not buy another multiplatform fighter that doesn't have Link in it!! WITH GOD AS MY WITNESS!!!

Also, it will be amusing to see the defining gorn games of two respective generations of gamers united at last.

This MK just got a little more interesting it's cool they're showing PS3 some love since some of my other favorite devs piss all over it

that would be very awesome! Kratos fits in with MK pretty well :)

Kratos' fatalities would be epic. He could cut players to pieces with the Blades of Athena, rip a person's soul out, enter a first person mode where he punches a person until you can't see because of the blood, and more!
