All the games listed above EXCEPT Psy-Phi, are games I'd love to see sequels for. Thanks for raining on my parade. And what a parade it was...

I always hoped to have to choose between tea and coffee to get different endings in a game, it's just as immersive and magnificent as Chrono Trigger's Crono hoping into the second teleport to fight Lavos... alone...

I knew when the original ShenMue came out, and was said to be a 16-part game, I knew the Dreamcast would never see the end of it. But I never knew that 12 years later, we still wouldn't have seen the end of it.

@Alistair That pretty much sums up today's gamer; we have more fun complaining about the crappy software for motion gaming than we would if someone actually developed something interesting for it.

@RickGhastly My complaint is more directed at the fact that I can't play it due to Kinect's space requirements. I have about three feet from my TV to my recliner, then a bed directly behind that. I have no room for Kinect, and I wouldn't be able to play the game if it were made.

@Alistair Fair enough, then. I own a Kinect and literally don't have enough room for Kinect Adventures (although luckily I only bought it for Dance Central).

If I'm to risk over-generalizing, I feel like what I said still stands when it comes to the vast majority of gamers though. Gaming culture is beginning to emulate celebrity culture. It almost seems that people want to be entertained by failures and blow-outs more than the original medium itself.

How about just Shenmue HD Collection? Then make Shenmue 3 but (for the love of all that is holy) not for Kinect.

Ugh...read the interview children:

"JM: Do you think the Psy-Phi concept would work with Microsoft's Kinect?

YS: We could probably even make a DS version of Psy-Phi. Sure, with the Kinect, as well. The advantage would be it wouldn't hurt your finger. [Laughs] I think it would be good to make it for Kinect. Yeah, maybe I'll make that my next project, although, I should probably make the game a little simpler for the Kinect audience."

Assuming you are referring to the missing ShenMue 2, unfortunately ShenMue 2 only saw a European release.

"Hey, we have a copy of ShenMue 2, completely translated into English. We just need to convert it from PAL to NTSC. Should we do it?"

"The Dreamcast is slowly losing headway in the US, screw it."

This header is a bit misleading... Suzuki-san has definitely NOT announced Shenmue 3... don't get too excited.. i'll be very surprised if Sega or whoever owns the rights nowadays gives this project a green light, considering how much money it will take to complete and 10 years gone by since the first one that barely anybody played.

I can dream though.

@valgalder
People didn't give Shenmue the love it deserved when it was released and even though I'm one of those few who played and loved it from day one, it acquired quite a "cult following" over the years. Probably that plus Suzuki-san clear desire to make it happen wouldn't justify the costs considering the way he likes to make games (from scratch). Should he fold and direct the development "the Western way", I suppose he could get someone to fund his project (and our dream) but judging by that interview, he's just too strong-headed (read: stubborn) to do so.

On an unrelated topic, James Mielke excessive ass-kissing towards Suzuki is uncalled for.

He hasn't played lucky hit since that day. The day of the incident. The day it was raining.

He should re-release the first two installments and see how well they sell. After that, get to work on the third part. I'm sick of hearing about this game and not seeing any progress being made. Either stop talking about it, or get to work on it.

@Drakkenfyre
Shenmue 2 was an Europe and Japan exclusive on the DC. It eventually headed over to the States on the original Xbox.

I meant European exclusive as far as the English version was considered, But you are right, I forgot about the XBox version.
