This story is pretty amazing. So joystiq doesn't confirm things like this before reporting on them? Why not? To get more attention?

I thought that was the most basic of policies for this sort of story. Guess not.

Konami has a valid beef. This game will be better with a great dpad, and I'm glad I can buy it.

Right, because the words directly from a company rep's mouth are generally suspect. If you were to verify everything a company rep said, you'd never get anywhere, because then you'd always have to check further down the line. Seems like it's Konami that needs to get their act together, not Joystiq.

"Right, because the words directly from a company rep's mouth are generally suspect. "

Wow. But the story says Joystiq learned about this from Eurogamer.

So when you say 'directly from a company rep's mouth', you really mean 'directly from the internet; we never spoke to any company reps at all'.

This isn't the first time this sort of error has occurred, and I ask again: why not confirm? When you read a rumor on the internet, why not pick up the telephone and call Konami, say 'Hi, this is Joystiq. Is X-Men a timed exclusive?'

Blaming Konami for this is unfair. They didn't have control over this, and it's not their responsibility to ensure Joystiq reports accurately.

I think these problems indicate a need for some kind of 'cite check' guideline for the people who work for this website. I'm not trying to bash them or burn them... but it's a valuable tool they will need. Because next time I read a fact on Joystiq, I'd like to know that Joystiq actually confirmed it.

@Dustin F Lets not confuse the fellows at joystiq as journalist they are bloggers. Most of their sources are other blogs god bless them.

Heck of a business game blogging.

Blogging is a brutal business. If they spent all their time verifying stories, they'd post them two days later and dipshits like yourself would end up complaining about "old news" and how Kotaku already posted it.

Seems like when people got nothing better to do than complain, it's always a catch-22.

Can you read? A Konami rep originally told Eurogamer that it would be released for 360 next week and PS3 in two months. It says that in this article, the original article and the Eurogamer article.

Even if a Konami rep hadn't said that, you act like this error is the end of the world.

yeah but that was just for the europe release. joystiq still should have either 1) just stated that was only for europe and the NA release still has no details or 2) called a konami rep and asked about the NA release.

but really. its no big deal. dustin does have a point though.

That's great news, timed exclusivity for things like this is really stupid, especially a 2 month delay period. Doesn't matter which console you prefer, I'd be pissed if I had to wait

Are you saying Joystiq spoke with company reps before posting this rumor?

Because if you are saying that, then this correction is wrong too. This correction says Joystiq learned about an internet rumor about what company reps told another website.

I don't think you're fair to blame company reps that, as far as I can tell, do not have names and Joystiq never spoke to, but rather only exist in on the internet in some suspiciously general way.

Sure, if you or I was going to argue in a comment thread about something, we might just link a website with some vague claim about what 'I heard my uncle's neighbor spoke with the girlfriend of a company rep'.

I think Joystiq can actually go much further than commenter gossiping and actually contact the primary sources for their stories. I don't say that out of disrespect. Quite the contrary.

I'm not asking for much.

Still wish this were a deserved game room title for 240 spacebucks. Konami has been the lone great dev supporting game room. I've bought about 8 of their old schoolers.

Man, $10... Kinda steep for a game I'll probably only play once for nostalgia. Not to mention I probably already spent $20 on this in the arcades back in the 90s. :P
