There's a reason why this game has had so many re-releases. It's stands the test of time, and it is effin' amazing.

@PreGHz That and it might be easier to milk this one instead of many of Square Enix titles on the PSOne classics that aren't released in the US

Well crap what does this mean for Secret of Mana then for the iPhone? They said they would release that this year too.

I was wondering what happened to this, might just get the PSP version then. I lent my original copy to a friend and never got it back.

Sort of OT - Do PSP favourites / greatest hits games have any markings on the cover to indicate they are as such? The last one I purchased was ages ago, when the PSP GH program first launched, and it had a greatest hits banner sticker on the cellophane as opposed to actually having a red greatest hits banner on the cover insert itself.

@Epoque It depends on when you get the GH version. I think early runs of GH titles just have the GH label under the cellophane because they're running through existing copies.

Once these sell through though, Sony makes copies with legitimate GH covers.

What? Proper controls on an iPhone game?

Well, I never!

Indeed, but I wish they'd just make a new game for touch devices. As a turn-based game, even a bad control scheme probably don't be a deal breaker here, but still. Oh well, hopefully the extended release window means lots of great customizations and gobs of polish. I'd love to have this on my phone. I have the original PSX disc, but this would be best as a portable title.

PSP version has slow downs

Also I'd imagine this kind of grid and menu heavy would be more enjoyable on a touch screen device... if it recognize my finger accurately enough

I'm glad I never knew this was delayed back in September, one of my all time favs that would rock on iPad/iPhone.

Is this the version with VS?

i'm currently playing through tactics ogre:luct on the snes for the first time, and it's remarkable how much matsuno and co. squeezed outta that thing. somehow, fftactics seems like a devolution despite the more powerful hardware(s).

FuriousMailman, if you got to your furious state because of Squeenix's tactics regarding digital releases, I whole-heartedly agree.

Loved FFT when I had it on the PS1, but I gotta say I'm far more excited to finally get a chance to play the Tactics Ogre remake. With that and Disgaea 4 coming out I don't know if there's any time, or need, to revisit this.

Well, y'know, barring the whole no other srpgs on the iphone tidbit

To anyone who played the PSP version: did they fix the game breaking bugs from the PS1 version where, if you saved before the Wiegraff/Velius fight and your Ramza did not have Dual Wield/Auto-Potion, the fight was unwinnable and you had to redraft from the beginning?

@TheRedComet No, because that's not a bug. You just need to be better at the game.

@TheRedComet
That was never a bug. That is one of the harder fights in the game, but you certainly dont need dual wield and auto potion.
that being said, I am very much looking forward to having this on my iphone and ogre tactics on my psp.

This is my favorite game of all time. I put like 3 days into one save file (which when I was a kid was a big deal). I tried the psp release but it had a different script which may be better I dont know but when your that into something your kind of a purist so it bothered me too much.

You know of all the FF games to be ported, wouldn't this one be less ideal for the iPhone?

It just seems my fat fingers wont be able to precisely pick squares all that .... precisely

You know, I just don't get Squeenix's distaste for digital distribution. $9.99 UMD releases, but nothing on the PSN. I've got the exceedingly-vintage 1997 release on my Go, which was enough to have me recharge my PSP1000 just to get back to my amazing characters, especially the DarkKnights.

For everyone excited about the 'Tactics Ogre' pending re-release, I'm with ya! Can't wait! I will gladly UMD the crap out of that one!

i got a samsung galaxy S a few weeks ago, and yesterday i discovered the psx4droid emulator for android. long story short: playing final fantasy 7 on my samsung right now. work pretty good, a few hickups when joining battle. wipeout works very good too.

not to say that theres a good sortiment of nes/snes/gba/genesis/atari/.... emulators and romgrabbers on android. only game gear games won't work that well

Finally, some word on this. If this version lacks the horrible slowdown of the PSP version, I will definitely get it somehow (even though I don't currently have an iPhone).

The lag is less apparent when played off a memory card. Just fyi.

How much less apparent are we talking here? The lag in the UMD version makes the game nearly unplayable.

The PSP version had that irritating lag, but the iPod Touch has a horrible battery life for gaming, so it's a fricking toss-up at this point. :P

I'm a fool for this game, though, so I'll be buying it yet again: once it's released, it'll easily be among the best games for iDevices, PERIOD. That's the kind of stuff I wanna have on me wherever I go.

I really want a PSN version of FFT. I have my gamesave from the UMD version and want to replay the hell out of it on my much smaller and better-controlling PSPGo.

I wonder if this will have the same little lag that the PSP version has when played from UMD?
