Prince of Persia: Warrior Within HD all the rage on PSN today

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, the more marketable, over-reactionary follow-up to The Sands of Time, will be available later today on the North American PSN for $15. The game runs in 720p HD and includes stereoscopic 3D for those who have the tech in their homes. Remember, if you live across the pond that you can pick up the whole PoP HD series on one disc in the Prince of Persia Trilogy.
Our favorite part of of the announcement post on PlayStation Blog is this line: "Long flowing jet-black hair + man-scara + M-Rating + Godsmack = Best. Week. Ever." We posit that the inverse conclusion is also applicable.

I don't even think you can include "Godsmack" with "Best.Week.Ever" unless it also includes "that monkey from Outbreak" and a closed room.

This game was sooooooo bad.

This game gets way too much hate for the angsty new aesthetics and terrible soundtrack, while the platforming is probably the best in the Sands of Time saga. It's only real gameplay downfall was all the backtracking, IMO.

Backtracking? If that's what you call the nonlinearity, frankly that's one of the things that made it the best in the trilogy for me. I enjoy games that respect the player, whose developers think enough of the player to feel they don't need to be automatically funneled through a narrow pipe to prevent them from panicking.
I enjoy the feeling that they let -me- play the game, instead of being pulled along like a dog on a leash right from the beginning to the end, barely doing more than watching the game (occasionally pressing forward and sometimes X).

Not everything has to be a sandbox to be called nonlinear. Compared to the other two, in WW there were a lot more open spaces and freedom to choose a direction, even going so far as to have something resembling a small "hubworld" with 3 different exits. You could do the gardens and the tower in whichever order you felt like, and if you wanted to try the other one halfway through, or just go check something else out, the game barely ever made any attempt to lock the door behind you.
It's not much, but it gave the game a sense of "place" which in turn greatly helps immersion. Something which was sorely lacking from the other two titles, and almost every modern game that's not a soulless procedurally generated sandbox, actually.

I wouldn't mind that cel-shaded(?) PRINCE OF PERSIA that came out prior to the recent game getting a 3D update. Ah well.

I'll pass. Can we not just get more good Prince of Persia and less 'suck' PoP?

Kojima needs to release the first three MGS games in HD.
I never finished MGS3 plus I tried playing MGS2 the other day and the graphics were a lot worse than I remember.

MGS series is pretty amazing, I mean, it's pretty balanced on what is the best title of the series. Some say the Original on PS1 was the best, some say the second, you and many others think is the third and last but not least, myself and many others think is the forth.
How many game series are like this? Probably none.

... best idea posted this week, good sir. I felt like Konami(and perhaps even Kojima)cheapened the nostalgia by re-releasing MGS1-3 on PS2 as a collection instead of a remake/updating them. I doubt David Hayter will need to fork over his own funds to update the VA sound quality this time around either.

I was going to buy Sands of Time again, but I heard the port has bugs up the ass and worse lightening than the original. According to some gamefaqs member who mailed Ubisoft, they're not going to do a thing about the constant freezing. Also, the voices are really low in cutscenes.
Count on Ubisoft to ruin even one of the best games there is.

Still haven't finished this on the Xbox yet. That soundtrack was just so unbelievably bad. I don't even think there was an option to turn the music down/off. If they are going to release the third one too, I guess I can try to endure the bloody ears.

Yeah forget the fact that it's easily got the best gameplay in the series, and all cry "omg worst pop ever" because we didn't like the prince's attitude in this one. The internet is pathetic.
Oh, I know you're just quoting PA. I just needed an excuse to say that.

Random question; Anyone know if the trophies on the European Disc-Based version are identical to these download ones? Because I'd prefer to get the disk for these, rather than download them.

I wasn't sure if that was a standard or if they could lock games out like 360 has the option of doing. Good to know.
