Rock Band 3 Stratocaster is a Best Buy exclusive

If you want to rock, first you have to pay your dues. To Best Buy.

Last week, Best Buy announced that it would be exclusively selling the Rock Band 3 Squier Stratocaster before the peripheral's previously announced March release date. Now, according to the retailer, it'll be the only place to go for the $280 guitar after that, as well. In a brief statement received by Joystiq today, Best Buy said that it would be "the exclusive retailer of the Rock Band 3 Squier when it goes on sale in stores on March 1."

Pre-orders for the instrument (which requires the MIDI PRO-Adapter for use with the game) will be offered beginning tomorrow, December 15, both in-store and on BestBuy.com.

Wait, how is this thing going to compare to the You Rock Guitar? I remember an ad for that on Joystiq a while back. That thing is only $220 ($200 for guitar + $20 for midi "flex cartridge".

And now there's this JamOrigin??? We need a stringed guitar controller showdown.

For all you Best Buy MI haters out there. Before you make comments like, "They only have guitars in cardboard boxes" at least check out the website. I would be suprised if they sell Gibson, Martin and Fender in cardboard boxes at the back of the store.

This is NOT true. I just e-mailed Fender and this guitar WILL be available at other stores sometime after the release date which is good because I BOYCOTT chain retailers.
