Sticking to my SFIV stick thanks. I don't care about 'american' or 'japanese' style. The ball-style stick is much easier to hold.

I care about whether it works as a controller, not what country the design supposedly comes from.

But that dictates the design and thus the functionality. So you DO care, you just don't care for the American style.

I think this is a neat idea. I, truly, don't care what style a stick is in because I don't like playing with them (Read: I suck at it) but I certainly understand the reasoning behind it and how some might prefer it over the japanese styles.

It's not a gimmick.

I prefer the American stick, due to years of arcade useage, but the Japanese buttons I much prefer.
Also, terrible button layout.

@The Aquacharger

It's specifically for MK, although this makes it pretty much useless for other fighters. I'm going to get one and replace the lid, so I can move the buttons around. I personally prefer the concave buttons and Bat-stick myself.

I don't use sticks, but it looks to the untrained eye that it makes sense. Most people's thumbs are not in line with their fingers and these seems like it would be more comfortable to operate unless you have short thumbs.

I don't know, think I rather still get the bookends. Definitely diggin' the Kung Lao avatar costume either way.

Man I don't like MK anymore but I like everything about this package. Also, baseball bat sticks are better.

Been thinking about upgrading my ball top stick to a baton-stick in my SSF4 kit. I've always been a bigger fan of the baton sticks because I grew up in the American arcade. Kinda annoyed with how smooth and twisty the stick is on the SSF4 controller, makes it difficult for accurate consistent input.

Looks like my Anny stick. So, yeah, I have one of those it just has SF characters all over it not MK and the button placement is different. I modded mine to work on the 360 a while back so I cant use it on the ps2/xbox anymore. Makes me sad because now I cant play CvS2 or A3 on the ps2. One of these days I'll get around to duel modding it...

I dont use it though, as I picked up one of those madcatz sticks. I use to prefer a bat-top but now I dont care if its bat or ball-top.

This is actually really slick. I've been playing a lot of SFIV on the 360 but with a fightpad instead of a fightstick as I just flat out suck with the fightpad. This would be neat to try out to see if it worked any better with my style. Of course, I don't have over $100 sitting around to just try it out ;(

I do also like the stick on the MK stick, but those buttons are very awkward looking.

Too bad Happ no longer sells the parts we used growing up, you'd have to have iL parts for that. Happ switched to cheaper Chinese distributors a few years back.

That button layout is WHACK! Any fighting game enthusiast is not going to purchase that. Why change a proven button layout to something as obscure as that, stop trying to reinvent the wheel. If it wasn't for the weird button layout I'd be all over that deal. I'll just stick to my SF stick for now and make the far left buttons Run and Block and be set to kick everyones butt who uses that whacky thing.

Do you mean the fighting game enthusiasts who appreciate the ethos behind any fighting game, or the ones who spend their lives living under Capcom HQ? That layout has been standard since MK3.

these are the parts I'm used to! because back in the day, the arcade machines had these parts. even the sf2 games (and all the chinese clones) because all they did was put in the sf2 motherboards into the arcade cabinets.

Seems like it's laying all it's eggs into one basket.
I wouldn't even consider it because of the buttons. Just lay the buttons out more or less conventionally so that you can use this 150$ piece of equipment for more than just one game...

what's up with the button layout? suppose to be ergonomically correct or something? good call on the memory foam though. these laps have been assaulted one too many times by my laptop.

Hahaha, I love all the comments about the Mortal Kombat layout.

That's just the way the original arcade game setup was.

Granted I've sucked horribly at any MK past number 2 (the flow got way too fast for me, and at that point Killer Instinct was out anyway).

2 punch buttons
2 kick buttons
1 block button in the middle that I could never utilize correctly :)
