hard to tell how much of an improvement it is without some standard footage to compare it to.

@DustbinK uh i've finished the game, High Speed, but we're talking about a Youtube vid from a PC build with no comparison footage to stack it up against. especially for people who have only played it on 360, it would be more than a little difficult to appreciate the improvements the mod has made with just this footage alone. thanks for being a c*&t though.

ugh that reminds me why i hate this engine. Girls are not hot at all, armor is ugly, animations are awkward it's so bothering me but i can't stop playing Vegas for some reason. i dream of a game with Japanese character\tech design and fallout gameplay.

Aesthetics are subjective after all. Best bits in Studio Ghibli films are when they draw an amazingly detailed landscape, though, not the bizarrely proportioned toons.

Reminds me of the HL2 mods, Digital Foundry I think it was called. It made the game look bonerific. Sadly, it also made Alyx bonerific, which was kind of the opposite of what Valve was going for. In this case, however, I'm cool with bonericity.

Those chick's eyes are SCARY.

You're thinking of Cinematic Mod. It redid all of the textures, modified the character models, and also added some more "cinematic" music. Most people got it for the textures.

Digital Foundry is a blog at Eurogamer that does tech analyses on games.

Even with the bugs I have enjoyed this game. On my second play through on the way to trophy whoring the game for another platinum trophy. A bit jealous of the PC enhancements though. Truly shows what Fallout 4 should look like...and hopefully with ZARO BOOGS (not quite zero bugs but close enough)

There are all these "HD mods" for games, and to be honest, I can never tell much of a difference. I think "HD" in this instance is a matter of taste.

@Teancum

Or a matter of better fitting an HD resolution and having vastly superior textures. Unless you are watching that video along side a video of normal gameplay, both in an HD resolution and both undistorted by crappy ass youtube, then you aren't going to notice a difference.

It kinda depends, the weapons I am doing at the moment are done from scratch so they should be a huge difference compared to the originals.

(mine's the darker one)

Of course sometimes 'HD' mods are basically taking the default textures and applying some filters and tweaks in Photoshop, but that's always not the case.

Oh? I think the original colour theme looks horrible in the game - the light parts are washed out by the overpowering HDR thus it looks like blinding crap.

Black is more stealthy, and more importantly - the real weapon, Ruger MK. II also comes in black.

Wait... so PC gamers get to do whatever they want to these games... and they still pitch fits over dedicated servers? Really now? Someone needs to learn to be thankful for their superior graphics and massive array of FREE additions to their games that makes them fun to keep playing. Seriously. I don't know how anyone can complain about anything when you still get 5 - 10 times as much out of their games... that are already cheaper anyways.

@oJMan240o

"Wait... so PC gamers get to do whatever they want to these games... and they still pitch fits over dedicated servers?"

As I've said before, match making simply does not work on the PC. Online console gaming was built with matchmaking in mind because no one, not the publishers or developers, wants to be responsible for renting/owning a data center, maintaining it, and keeping it online for 5-10 years AFTER that specific game came out. Most players are isolated by region, connection speed, and some latency is masked by the inherent lag and inaccuracies associated with the use of a gamepad.

With PC matchmaking, nowhere near as much time and energy is put into refining P2P online gameplay. Connection speeds vary widely, connections tend to drop frequently, there typically aren't region restrictions, and the increased responsiveness of the controls make even a little lag very noticeable. Dedicated servers came about BECAUSE of the deficiencies of PC matchmaking making. We're seeing a migration away from dedicated servers because publishers like Activision have a financial stake in controlling (to a small degree) a game's online connectivity; it's a great way to force DLC on people who would otherwise not have bought anything.

As for modding tools, they are few and far between now. Only a few new games on the market actually have modding tools of any description; most games are nearly direct ports of their console counterparts and publishers don't want community created content competing with the dreck they consider "DLC".

People get more out of the games because the users provide it you moron. It's a PC game, people have been modding them for decades.

Gamers are complaining because devs are REMOVING features that have been part of PC gaming for decades too. i.e. dedicated servers.

And the games aren't cheaper if Blizzard and Activision are publishing them.

And there's nothing stopping you from playing PC games. Get a PC then you won't have reason to complain either. Nobody forces you to play a game on a specific platform.

Actually there have been quite a few mods to fix bugs in this game. See http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38326 for one of the larger compilations. Give modders enough time and they can even manage to find workarounds for some engine problems.

While at this point the moddability of games is not what it once was (thank you, console ports) there remain some things that are best played on PC. Not sure why anyone would buy the console version of a Bethesda game (or, in this game, a spin-off of a Bethesda game) given the choice. There is a huge mod scene for these games, and given the number of bugs and balance issues they tend to benefit from it.
